The fact that they had to open a dispute could be the problem. If I have to open a dispute to get a refund normally I would give the seller a neg as it shouldn't have to go that far
To be fair, I tend to ask buyers to open a dispute, then I'll refund immediately before it needs to go near a claim - I feel that by officially recording it, it may flag up any persistant claimants.
Needless to say though, I do communicate with the buyer all the way through.<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -
I recently sold something on ebay and posted by recorded delivery, the buyer said it has not arrived and its been 15 days. I have refunded though as the RM website says the item is still being progressed through the system.
Where can I get the form to claim back the money as I cant seem to find it on the RM website, and is it likely to take 6-8 weeks as another poster suggested.

It's a form P58 from the post office, or download it with this link - ftp://ftp.royalmail.com/Downloads/public/ctf/rm/Inland_(2006current_version).pdf<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -

I had the proof of postage reciept, but because it wasnt tracked couldnt prove delivery even though I could proove postage. I complied with all steps of the dispute, two months later they find in the buyers favour, putting my account -£75. I got a letter from a debt collection agency for the amount I have to pay it back, so the buyer gets a full refund and the item, I am out of pocket £75 for the item and the £20 postage, plus all the ebay fees. I was told by the DCA if I refused to pay I would be taken to court.
it's disgusting how for some items you are forced to give free postage, if you have to pay yourself for every item to be tracked there would be little money to be made on ebay. it's put me off selling on there for life
Yeah, I posted a Gucci bag to Italy, buyer would not pay for tracked and insured (RM don't do Airsure to Italy) Sent it small parcels at her insistence, and I ended up £107 out of pocket, after she said she did not receive it!]Mortgage 1. RM will not replace new for old. For secondhand or used items you can use the Ebay value.
I have had many discussions on the phone with RM and have been told if I can prove value to replace an item, in a present catalogue, they will refund that. Up to £39 plus postage.
Obviously as a business seller they state they will not refund profit. But I have been verbally asked to give a ball park figure on the cost of an item I have had a long time and they paid me plus postage.0 -

I could do with knowing your ebay ID I would not want to sell to you. How can you proudly say you neg because you had to go to dispute.
Negs are not meant to be punishment they are to warn about sellers with bad practices. Not one who was at the mercy of RM, who lost and item and just wanted to see if it eventually turned up. That is NOT a bad seller.0 -
I have this problem with a buyer who has opened a dispute because her item has not arrived. I have looked at RM website and it says 15 working days until you can deem the item lost. Buyer has opened the dispute 10 normal days before that deadline. I am really p*d off about this as one of my other sales has taken 12 days to be delivered and, in view of the time of year, I think they should have left it until the deadline.
To add insult it actually took the buyer 11 days to pay, claiming some paypal problem and I was incredibly patient during that time.
Buyer has claimed dispute has been opened because I messaged her to say I wouldn't refund, certainly until the deadline day when I could be sure that the item had not arrived.
What happens if you refund and then the item arrives?????
Is it right to open a dispute before RM own timescales?0 -

If the seller is aware that an item has not arrived then they should refund without the buyer having to go through a dispute.-->♥<-- Sugar Coated Owl -->♥<--
