Oh I couldn't agree more! There certainly ARE some people who must have their way or the toys fly out of the pram. However this is the nature of a large gathering of people, whether in person or in cyberspace. Unfortunately there will always be those who take themselves so seriously that they cannot bear different points of view, or hate other users so much that they go out of their way to make things unpleasant for everyone.
I have seen this on the money threads as well.;;Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0 -

This forum is no different than any other forum I've been on - in relation to having a mix from every walk of life. The difficult part is stopping the 'idiots' spoiling it for everyone else. This is were the 'moderators' are extremely important and as a whole do a great job.
There should really be no excuse for duplicate user id's as the forum I moderate over will match an Ip address with a user. For example if I had a user name called 'billy' and I was causing trouble then the Mod could bring up my Ip address. It would also show the time and what other users have used that Ip address. So if 'billy' and 'joe' made posts on that Ip address within a short time of eachother you could reasonably guess they were the same people - and do another couple of checks.
An idea might be a cooling out period. Maybe 'Mods' could block a user for a couple of days or a week until he/she has 'cooled down'. After a few times the user could be banned!!! Just an idea.

I massivly agree on the post count, thanks count malarky. If there was some way of getting rid of those in DT or MSA then it would be brilliant. As for getting rid of MSA and Dt I think that would be daft, they are there to keep the chat of the remaining 70 odd boards so they dont all get clogged up with meaningless banter.
As for saying that the moneyboards dont cause trouble then this is also daft, look at the pigsback thread, it kicks off big style in there is someone else posts a competition that some one esle has already posted (all about the thanks count) then they arge for 3 pages, then argue about the argueingAnd then the OS board, I have seen it kick off in there as well on the daily thread just because someone has took something the wrong way. Or even the DFW board, there was a horrid thread recently where someone started a thread to let others know they had reported someone, and anyone that went on there to try to calm things down (as SS so bravely did) they just got shot down. So to say all the trouble is on those two boards is too much of a fleeting statement.
The trouble only starts with a handful of users, and feeding them only makes it worse. (I know I was doing this earlier but it was to prevent them going back into DFW and offending posters in there which I was worried about) as Quasar says out of 100,000 users or what ever it is now, to have a few spats here and there is inevitable, not all those people can be expected to get along all the time, and I have been on forums much smaller than MSE and they have much more trouble than this site does.Work like you don't need money,Love like you've never been hurt,And dance like no one's watchingSave the cheerleader, save the world!0 -

I was very brave! :T
But in all fairness that thread was an exception.0 -

I understand it was an exception, I find DFW one of the best boards on here, esp in terms of support and help, the posters on there are a massiver credit to the place (interst free credit of course  ) I just used that as an example to show that the nastyness does extend elsewhere on the boards.
EDIT: while I am here can I complain about how slow this site is for me tonight :wall:Work like you don't need money,Love like you've never been hurt,And dance like no one's watchingSave the cheerleader, save the world!0
