I'm getting a bit bored of the rivalries, sniping, agendas and unpleasantness on the board. I started coming to these boards because apart from Money Saving there was a degree of civility that is now (in my opinion) declining.

I've looked at a thread tonight which appears to have been partially removed because a member and what appears to be a clone account have gone head to head and it's all snowballed from there.......

What is the point of this nastiness? Is it worth it? How it will enhance real life? At the end of the day does it really matter? Honestly? To someone who is not involved in these squabbles it all looks a bit sad and pathetic. I think that the majority of active members would agree.

My suggestion? Shut the 'Arms and shut Discussion Time. In my opinion this is where most of the rivalries and agendas start. Remove the post count and thanks totals so that they don't become trophies for those who use them negatively and keep the 'Stars' to recognise the MSE who contribute most to the site.

No don't do that! At least with those boards it generally stays in there. If you close them you risk all the problems just being started in one of the important boards like the DFW. It would be horrible if that board was ruined as it is in my opinion the best board bar none on this forum! :)

Unfortunately you are always going to get people like this!

This is 100% on the ball, NO POST COUNT, NO THANK COUNT, NO THANK BUTTON, NO STAR RATING, and then maybe things will be better.

And I am for closing DT and MSA as to me in does not help the site as a whole in any way apart for bumping post numbers for Big Board stats, this ofcourse IMO.

I take your point but I cannot really see it kicking off in Old Style i.e the sponge scourer lot take on the jay cloth mob. DT and the arms breed the negativity not contain it.

Despite my earlier request to remove the thanks button I have thanked Quincy because I am superstious and I think he might actually be called Damien.

But for some unknown reason there are people who are only interested in causing trouble out there. At least with The Arms it is a non-essential board and they will primarily stir their sh*t in there rather than potentially upsetting new members who are desperate for help and are scared away from the board becuase of this!
