The backlight comes on, but that's it. Battery changed, headphones changed. Nothing. It is indeed a whirry noise. If you could hear it you'd say "aha, a whirry noise!"

The engineers at work hate it when I ring up with a problem...

Is this whirry noise a new thing which came on when it broke - or has it always made it?

It's a familiar whirry noise at a new time and volume... It usually whirrs a bit when searching for a track, but now that's all it does and it's much louder.

And I'm going nowhere near the techie board SS, they're really mean in there!

Lol at whirry noise. You sound so like me. I had to phone up dyson insurance (thank god I didn't cancel it coz the thing broke). He led me through a load of tests asking me to put my hand by various holes and tell him what the suction was like. I'm sure he was just taking the micky! Got half a new dyson out of it though!

The thing that annoys me is when they ask if things are switched on or plugged in!
