Thanks BargainbirdI was thinking along those lines, however free range ferret won't be in the mix :rotfl:
I think I will go for it, hopefully no-one eating it will have seen my kitchen tonight. It's all a bit "self sufficient" in there, feathers and etc... i do hope no-one reading this is offended, I do eat meat, know where it comes from and a free meal isn't turned away here. I just need to make the most of it as wasting it isn't an option.
Rubber teal, anyone?0 -

...H2B has come home with a mallard and four teal given by a friend who is in a shooting club... He says he will pluck & do the necessary.... hopefully no-one eating it will have seen my kitchen tonight. It's all a bit "self sufficient" in there, feathers and etc...
My best friend's hubbie is in a syndicate in Cheshire, so we occasionally get pheasant from them.....DF has learnt the hard way that the best place to pluck a bird is sitting on the next-to-bottom stair, with a bin bag between his knees as the hall has no furniture or curtains to catch any stray feathers and also has varnished wooden floorboards to make sweeping-up easier!!
Not sure sure about rubber teal...it's a bit, well, "wee", isn't it?! Hardly room for any meat when you've picked all the shot out!
BTW, pheasant carcass & scraps makes lovely soup with some lentils & carrots!0 -
well my dinner turned out gorgeous:j! Ribs done in the Slow cooker are great., Glazed with some maple syrup mixed with orange juice and brown sugar and crisped them up in the oven. Absolutely to die for , brother was super impressed:eek:. Served with mash made with fresh cream in (he said the mash was amazing), and boiled cabbaage and gravy. Desert was upside down warm fairy cakes with gooey jam on the bottom, topoed with fresh cream. Was making a cake for work, so made enough for an extra couple of buns left for me and my brother - and the jam didnt over cook so was still runny. SOrted out my victoria sponge for work tomorrow.
He loved it so much he asked could i make that cake n xmas day, and neither of us could believe the ribs. Yummy, glad i tried bacon against the advice of the butcher :rotfl:
Got stuff dropped to hostel too, so thats good. Going to pour myself a large drink and get into bed . Ooh, sneezing fit. great, I'm off! See you all tomorrow:AA little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

Just wrote a long post and it disappeared into the ether, so:
Glad you have made up with your mum Redruby.
Falling asleep at moment, typing is even slower and less accurate than usual.
Hugs to all, sleep well
