I disagree.
Even if I don't read newspapers, other people do get their opinions from the papers. This in turn, massively effects the government's actions.
Also, there is a perception that the media perform investigative journalism, and form part of the checks and balances on our government.
"If this was really an important issue it would be in the papers"
"If what you're saying is true, why haven't I seen it on TV?"
But there are numerous issues that the media doesn't give the coverage they require, while pretending that they do cover all the important issues. I think this makes them almost complicit in many injustices.
I voted for The Mail, because I think that if people believe what they read there, it gives them a distorted view of reality.0 -
Nestle would get my vote everytime, why oh why aren't they on the list?
Here's why I would vote for them http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nestl%C3%A9_boycott http://www.babymilkaction.org/pages/boycott.html0 -
if i had my choice i'd close Virgin, would open the cable market for some major competition, then we'd get companies who know how to bill properly and provide decent prices for services.0

Nice to see The Sun getting an absolute pasting and winning the vote by miles. Horrible, lying rag of a 'newspaper'.0

Poll seems to have been hijacked by bitter scousers on the red and white kop forum. (I cannae post links yet) Must question the integrity of the result now surely?
Edit, hello Heathcote!I'm not bad at golf, I just get better value for money when I take more shots!0 -

Don't know what the answer is as to the validity, though.0 -
I'd just imagine that with voters coming in en masse from a different forum with a single agenda, the results would be somewhat skewed?I'm not bad at golf, I just get better value for money when I take more shots!0

Yes, the results are clearly skewed.0

Its a free vote, therefore if people can be bothered to vote then it should stand.
I looked through the list of companies and voted for the one I detest most.
I think you will also find there is every reason for merseyside in general, not just the red half to be bitter about what they printed following the Hillsborough disaster.
It's also topical that the Bishop of Liverpool will now oversee the opening of the so called "Hillsborough files" I do hope the full truth comes out. JFT 96.
Oh and I'm not a scouser either nor I am personally bitter, feel free to keep tossing out the generalisations though.0 -
Having scanned down the list, it appears to me that a person can decide to boycott the majority of the companies - with only one exception
