If the rules state they just have to pass on enough money rather than sell it at 40p, then someone could just subsidise the purchase when paying the company. Hmm, I wonder who could have the money to do that...
Anyway, I'm with the "29p is 29p too much" brigade, though if lots of people want to buy it for 29p and not have it count, I'm all for it0 -

But, it will count for Radio 1.Come on you Irons0 -

Quite a few contenders for this years Christmas number 1, according to this site, but I think it's a 2 horse race with Joe and the Facebook campaign for Rage Against The Machine.
We'll find out on Sunday I suppose, but I have to say I don't like either of em.0 -
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't put money in Simon Cowell's pocket, regardless of whether it's 29p or £29K.
I'm fed up of puppets getting to Number #1. It's about time that the Christmas #1 had an element of musicianship again (like somebody who actually knows how to play a guitar would be a good start!!).
Regardless of whether or not you like Rage Against The Machine, at least they can play their instruments.
Given that there's a special episode of Top Of The Pops on Christmas Day, it would be FANTASTIC to see Rage Against The Machine at Number #1 (even if the BBC will play about 20 seconds of it and have a full live performance by Joe McWhatshisname).
I love the fact that somebody's taken the time and trouble to set up a facebook forum to boycott X-Factor - it will be truly refreshing NOT to have Simon Cowell at #1 for a change.
Edit - Please consider putting your 29p towards the charity Shelter. The RATM facebook people have set up a webpage on the Just Giving website - already the level of support is fantastic and they've collected over £26,000.
Remember, nobody should be homeless at Christmas - so please please please consider making a donation.

As much as I can't stand X Factor, RATM are also signed to a Cowell label to the campaign won't hurt him.
There was an element of irony in Cowell branding the RATM campaign "cynical" however. Of course, running a TV show, picking a track that managed to reach No 11 in the charts only seven months ago and releasing it just in time of Christmas isn't "cynical" at all. Oh no siree.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
i remember people used to record the top 40 , to save money , now it seems your paying 29p a track , for someone else to do it for you , does the 29p price include anything else ? seems expensive to me , just my opinionmy favourite food is spare ribs0
