    Morning All

My day actually went pretty much to plan yesterday which is a Christmas Miracle in itself!

The pea & ham soup turned out lovely and we all had that for lunch and then we settled down with a tub of celebrations(Thorntons chocolate covered vanilla fudge for me;)) and watch Home Alone 2 which was great - even DD who's only 3 enjoyed it.

My friend called in yesterday morning and her sister was in labour with her first child - she delivered a baby girl at 2:30 pm; Amy 8lb 5 () and they are both well so we shared a bottle of Baileys last night to 'wet the baby's head' (Any excuse :D).

DS-D and DS-S are out with DH's mum today as she wants to get them some shoes to go with clothes she's got them for christmas and DS-D in particular has such odd feet you couldn't just buy a pair and hope for the best!

I have soup left over for lunch today and I have gammon and cooked chicken breasts so Chicken & Ham Pies for Tea.

Need to get some washing on this morning and straighten up the kitchen (DW is on already) but I had a bit of a late one last night so I'm a little slow this morning....Unfortunately DD still gets up at 6 with no consideration of the fact that I was up drinking Baileys 2am......Just wait til she's old enough to be out clubbing...I'll make sure I hoover at 6 every morning :D Revenge is a dish best served cold eh? :rotfl:

Think I'll let DS1 take the car again today gives me another excuse for a lazy one :D and I think I'll try and get some wrapping done tonight.

    Have a good day all

    Morning all

Woohoo I've just woken up :j:j I never sleep this late!

I had 2 friends over last night and we had pizza (used the £10 off Domino's code) and watched Strictly and X Factor. I was in total shock when Chris&Ola got through to the final :D I love them but I thought after Ali&Brian got a 50 then they would go through. On X Factor I've always thought Joe had a good voice but was never a fan, until his duet with George Michael, totally amazing! I only had one glass of wine so no hangover today :D

Today I am going to start packing for my holiday :j I'm going to pack all the things I'm not going to wear again before I go today plus shoes etc. Then pack the rest Weds night. I also need to put some songs on my Ipod. I'm very good with technology normally but my Ipod hates me so I will probably end up throwing out the balcony! :rotfl:

WM is on, it's lovely and sunny so I may put it outside to dry for a bit. I'm going to try use up all the fresh stuff I have as I have dinner out Monday and Tuesday so will only be making tea on Weds night and that can be something from the freezer. So I think I'll have stuffed peppers, roast potatoes (and I'll make and freeze some mash too at same time) and some peas for tea tonight. I have some pizza left over from last night so that will be lunch, along with some coleslaw and potato salad I have in fridge. I have some eggs too so may hard boil them to go with it.

    Have a fab day all

    Morning all
Pipkin - thankyou.gifHope you had a good time in Stratford.

I had a lovely time, thank you, Diva. Suffering slightly this morning as I've had cramp all night in my calf and it's painful now, but it was worth it :)

    Hope you are well.

    What a lovely quote :)

Looking quite nice and fresh outside today. Hopefully we can go out for a bit later once DDs are back, will have to see if my leg eases first.

This morning we had our usual Sunday bacon sandwich, which was very nice. Especially with a steaming cup of tea or three. I've trained DDs well,so now I don't even have to get up when I fancy a cuppa :D There are some advantages to them getting older afterall :)

We've got chicken for dinner today, so need to sort that out shortly, and there's washing to go on the rack, but not much else needs doing for now, so I should start on completing the present wrapping. Or I may just spend the next few hours on MSE. Decisions, decisons

Hope you all have a good day, whatever you're doing :)

  • Good morning everyone!
I just thought I would tell you what a lovely day I had yesterday with my 2 teenage daughters. My 15 yr old had £15 to buy 6 pressies for her friends at school and was really getting anxious about it, so we headed to town with an open mind, and visited a couple of the bargain shops on the way...£2.99 sack of spuds (20kg) and £1.00 worth of leeks stashed in the car before we even got started:T. We also stocked up on some cheap jellie beans for a gift in a coke bottle (which look awesome I have to say!), and found some bubbles and a mug.

Finally we get into town, and DD2 starts saying Martin all the time, took me a while to realise she was actually calling it me!!! She was having so much fun finding different and thoughtful presents and loved this new way of celebrating christmas. I ended up in Wilkinsons spending £40  that was not meant to happen...but got 40 cards for £1.00, xmas tree lights for £5, and my gift to myself...a massive saucepan so i could start batch making soups etc!!!!! That had a sticker on it that said £10, but after I had paid I realised that I had been charged £11:confused:, now the old me would have left it...it's only a pound....but the new me had to queue for 10 minutes. Not only was it the principle, but now it was also the pounds!!:j
Another hour of trawling through shops, and DD2 now only has £8 left...hmmm!!!! Small little pretty boxes (resembling travel cases) £1.50 each, a trip to elprimarni for some £1.00 jewellery (is it only me that thinks their prices have rocketed recently???), job done!!!
Home made labels to personalise the bubbles, recycled paper for stuffing the boxes, a personal message in each card she wrote...and hey presto, wonderful pressies (and today she is making some xmas cookies to go with them!)
As for me i made a massive batch of leek and potatoe soup (cost £2 for about 8 pints:D) which is lunch today and xmas starters (once i have emptied the milk out of the container so i can put soup in it to freeze). Later it will be some ginger bread men and women, cookies and mince pies to make...some for pressies some to eat now. Also need to make some streamers, and find the tree:rolleyes:. Oh and make labels for my real hot chocolate gift in a jar...cost £2 each including the jar:j
Thank you so much to everyone on this site who has inspired me to cut back christamas to doing it as homemade as possible. For the first time in years i am loving the build up to the big day, and i am not out of pocket!

I'm hoping we don't have snow until I've finished everything I want to do over the next week or so, as I can't risk going outside in it.

I do love snow scenes and seeing kids having fun playing outside, but have to view it from indoors :)

Morning all.......I just managed to get the Frday clean done, so the house is looking good downstairs at least, upstairs will get its usual clean tomorrow morning.

I have a line of washing out, it keeps coming over very black and then clearing up, I don't expect it to dry but it will at least have had a blow.

We are hoping to get out for a walk after lunch our local shopping centre has a post office which is open on Sunday till 4pm, so we will be going that way to post a couple of cards that need to go.

I recored Victorian Christmas so we will shut ourselves in with a nice cup of tea and watch that when we get back.

Left over soup and cheese sarnies for lunch, chicken with all the trimmings for supper.....last roast dinner before Christmas, next week we will have a beef casserole I have in the freezer, need using up.

The wind is quite cold when you get out. OH says its coming from the north, apparently we have been forecast for snow tomorrow.....bbbbbbbbrrrrrrrrrr......

Morning. We have all had a lazy morning and have not long been dressed :D so not a lot done so far apart from the washer has been on twice and is getting dried. I did the ironing yesterday evening & homework is thin on the ground at this time of year so only shoe polishing to do :T

Lunch is a grab it yourself affair and dinner is potato, bacon & onion hotpot with some yorkie puds.

My Dad should be sent home today. They did blood tests etc overnight but nothing showed up so they're wondering if it's a combo of some of the many tablets he takes for his heart, blood pressure, diabetes etc. He could rattle some days

I am hoping to get some more cross stitch done today - I haven't picked John Wayne up for a few days as his face is starting to annoy me with all the similar coloured light threads :rotfl:

Kitchenbunny I love putting away threads & getting another lot on the card holder for the next project it's one of my favourite bits :D
