Christmas party on the 17th... so am off from them until the 29th. My parents are visiting from South Africa (they arrive at 6.30am tomorrow...grr). And for the first time in 15 years my three brothers, my parents and I will be together at Christmas... except that my oldest brother is working Christmas day so we are holding Christmas day on boxing day instead.Man plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0

Its bliss having a week on my own before kids break up and then a week in Jan as they go back on the 4th. My hubby is also in retail so he's working up to and including xmas eve,he then goes back on Jan 2nd.0

I am working Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and Boxing Day night shifts, but you know what i work with mentally ill adults, and i love my job, and i want to be there to help them have a fab Christmas!
I don't mind at all, the way i see it i can celebrate on the 28th, and i know i will have a good Christmas, but others less well off cannot guarantee the same, if i can change that to some degree, i am happy.0 -

I work for the local council, and I finish on 23rd at lunchtime and go back on 5th Jan. Our offices are open until close of business on Christmas Eve, but I'm using up annual leave! We have to keep 2.5 days of our annual leave entitlement to use for the Christmas shutdown in between Christmas and New Year, but its a nice change for me after 5 years of working in Morrisons at Christmas!0
