The colitis seems to be on the mend (fingers crossed.) Only one parcel in the night last night.
I'm a bit reluctant to give her anything new at all at the moment - playing ultra safe on the digestion front. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Just thought as well, she's been given prednicare - that's a steroid isn't it? so that could be why the incontinence is worse at the moment as well. (She's banned from my lap until it stops dripping out of her, revolting animal.)
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.
  • poor doggo and poor you - sorry to hear its all such hard work at the moment - hope things look up a bit soon :-)

Thanks - having a self pity night!
Caused by not being able to go away (thanks to mutt) then coming down with the mother of all colds so struggling to take doggo out, so she's bored and restless and being an absolute attention-seeking little !!!!! at the moment. All over me like a rash.
And each visit to the vet means even longer till my bathroom get tiled, floored etc.
Oh well, large medicinal brandy and off to bed. Might look better in the morning. Depending on the state of my kitchen floor, obviously.

IT DID! :eek:god know why but it worked..i wonder if someone squeezes my rear my exzema will clear up??

Oh my goodness - I know what its like. I've had 3 dogs now and all have had sensitive stomachs - not colitis though - but even the sniff of something dodgy would set off the runs (not good as all have been hairy bum rough collies!).

Just a thought when your pooch is better (and I hope this is real soon) - I've found 2 wonderful dog foods that help; Arden Grange and Royal Canin Sensitive (dry - the vets stuff not available in shops but available online).

I used to buy bio yogurt all the time - you get funny looks when you go into a supermarket and buy just a single pot of it - I think they thought I was forever suffering from a yeast infection if you know what I mean!!!!

Get well wishes for your pooch.

Ok, getting really fed up now and need to vent.

Mutt's colitis has meant that she wasn't absorbing her meds properly, so her incontinence has reappeared. Weeing everywhere and I'm fairly sure she's getting another urine infection. And my carpets will never be the same again.
While at the vet for the colitis he looked at her foot. It's not the mast cell tumours again, (thank heaven for small mercies) but the lump will probably need removing fairly soon due to the location.
And the zantac hasn't worked so we're back to considering the tube down the throat job to see what's going on, following her op to have the tooth out.
And she's starting to have another go at her leg - cue recurrent skin infection making its third visit.
And without wanting to tempt fate, it just seems like her health is just one thing triggering the next, ad infinitum. And even with insurance she's costing ma a fortune because of the huge excess and percentage of the final bill.
And I know it's not her fault, and there's nothing I can do about it, it's just that a couple of months without something new to see in the new year would be wonderful. If someone up there is listening to me. Please.

I just wanted to say I sympathised, sometimes you think it's never ending. Hope pooch settles down soon and that she appreciates what a good owner she has.

Our Harley still has his colitis but all his other ailments have finally stopped coming and he's been pretty settled for quite some time now. I do remember feeling pretty overwhelmed with it all at one point though, epecially when the insurance company upped the excess by £40.

Best you can do is love her anyway (which I know you do) and give her a fleeting dirty look occasionally, at times of stress or tiredness. ;)

Thanks zebidee1, I was wondering how Harley was getting on lately. Glad to hear things have settled. Unfortunately mutt is at the other end of the age spectrum, so much as I hate to think about it, we might be at the start of a long downward slope.
And the dirty looks are almost continuous at the moment - in both directions. She was having more frequent smaller meals for a bit, so now it's back to twice a day I'm getting the half-starved pooch routine every few hours.
