I sent three letters recorded, all were signed for by different people, couldn't read any of the signatures. This was about 8 or 9 months ago, so perhaps they just refuse them now.0

Sorry that I didn't see this forum beforehand. When I ordered a shower to be fitted by Host lettings at my property I thought everything would be striaghtforward. unfortunately the agent decided not to install my shower in order to minimise time and make it easy for themselves, and to add insult to injury once it was done I tried to return the shower (in original packaging and with receipt) to JA BAthrooms and the !!!!!!!s wouldn't refund it - not good for business the **** with the handlebar moustache said.
Can only reiterate - steer clear of those con artists - both of them actually.0 -

You are legally entitled to return the item for a full refund within (I think) 7 days of receipt, but you must send a letter by recorded/special delivery because they refuse to answer calls. Unfortunately this scurrilous person knows that a phone call is of no legal significance, because anything said cannot be proven, so he ignores you. His trading practices are thoroughly unpleasant, but he knows the law, and how not to get caught.
Please make a complaint to Trading Standards (via Consumer Direct) and send an email to the Radio 4 programme You and Yours. You would have thought the law would take into account the fact that companies would try to prevent refunds by ignoring people, or saying no, but clearly not. If you have any questions on this post, feel free to send a PM.Warning: This forum may contain nuts.0 -
I do wish I'd read some reviews before purchasing from this company.
I ordered a shower unit several weeks ago as it was £40 cheaper than my local supplier. I needed it urgently and was assured it would be with me last Friday AT THE LATEST.... they were also going to give me a call to let me know when to expect it.
Needless to say, I still have no shower and no phone call and despite having called them four times now and e mailing twice I can't even get anyone to speak to me or advise on the delivery status. They managed to debit my card on the 6th Dec though!
It would have been worth the extra £40 to have had less hassle, the peace of mind & a working shower by now.0 -
I have to say, we bought our bathroom from JA's, admittedly in February, not recently, and I cannot find any fault with either prices or service. The advice we received in store was invaluable and the prices within the budget we had set. Delivery came on time, and the guys hauled the heavy stuff right upstairs rather than leaving it in the downstairs hallway as so many companies do.
As I say, this was in February, but I was, and still am, extremely happy with the service.I am employed as a manager in a financial services institution. My views are entirely my own.0 -
Well it's good to hear they can deliver sometimes. So who fancies a gamble?:rotfl:0

Do please report them to Trading Standards, and contact You and Yours (Radio4) in the hope that they do an investigation. The more reports there are, the more likely there will be action. Thanks.Warning: This forum may contain nuts.0 -
It is now well over a month since he took my money. I was able to get an 'invoice' from one of his staff, but the staff member expressed concern when I said the purchase was on a debit card. I think this person knows people usually get the credit card company to refund the money, and I assume the CC company do not pursue Garnham, hence he makes money from the CC company. I am using Nationwide to pursue him. If that does not work, it is the small claims court.
Has anyone ever got money back from him, as opposed to from a CC company?Warning: This forum may contain nuts.0 -
Unfortunately I gave £8000 pounds to JA Bathrooms before I discovered how unorganised and dishonest they were. I ordered items over 3 separate transactions. In late October and November 2011. After over 3 months I am still waiting for orders to be delivered. The manager of the store refers to himself as Joe. Joe is extremely helpful upto the point he has taken your money. After that point he doesn't respond to emails or return any of your calls. No other person can help you and all you can do is wait. Items are delivered in drips and drabs and very rarely on the day you are told to expect them. In short, this store entices people in with low prices but does not care about repeat business. They are internet based and their philosophy appears to be - there's a sucker born every minute. I have reported them to trading standards and am in the process of making an insurance claim on my MasterCard. Anyone thinking of doing business with this firm - please learn from mine and hundreds of others that have suffered at their hands. Do an internet search on 'JA Bathrooms Reviews' to read other people's horrific experiences.0
