Why does it cost a fortune to keep fit?

Hi there,
I would really recommend walking/jogging. Been there, done the gym and honestly got a lot more out of running than anything else I ever tried. It really helps to find a good mate to go with and save all your gossip for the times you go running/walking to keep your mind off the tiredness.
Set small targets and don't beat yourself up if you have to reschedule or miss occasionally. Just make sure you aim for a certain number of times each week. It does wonders for your emotional health as well - I honestly feel so much better after a run.

I hate running so I sympathise! Plus it can be pretty weather dependent. Good news is this time of year a lot of the women's magazines feature "bikini workouts" designed by top instructors that you can do in your living room. (The routines, not the instructors! Bad sentence construction!) There's one in the latest issue of Superdrug's free Spirit magazine, it uses weights but you can use filled water bottles or baked bean tins instead. Also if you have a tesco clubcard go to the tesco website and join their healthy living club. They'll send you a little booklet with two sets of fitness routines and some diet tips absolutely free. (Plus you also get bonus points vouchers!)
For a more cardio- type workout see if you can fit a bit of brisk walking into your routine (that old chestnut of getting off the bus a stop early, or just parking a bit further away from wherever you're going). And the best, most fun workout, put on your favorite music and dance like mad around your bedroom/ living room/ kitchen. (Be careful not to knock the ornaments off the shelves!) If you have a garden you could also invest in a skipping rope (about £4) its excellent excercise.
Also pop into your local library, they'll have loads of books on weight loss and healthy living for you to pick up more ideas.
