  • something weird happened yesterday. I mentioned to you all the car I was drooling over but was a silly choice to buy (a Honda Prelude I've wanted for years and there is 1 for sale about 6 miles away in the colour I want which I'd seen on autotrader). I went to get Charlie yesterday and my ex was on his lappy. No word of a lie - he had the car on his screen on a page on Exchange and Mart when I walked in  He said - have you seen this car? I'm like...........erm, you could say that!!!!

  • nah....whistful sigh....as much as I really want it SRM, it's a 2 litre car and the longest journey I do is a 10 mile round trip once or twice a week to teach during term time. It would be a really uneconomical choice.......I was very tempted though when my ex said if I fancied going to the garage to look at it he would run me there! 'Our' old car which he now has is the previous model of the Prelude and although it is J reg. it has been very reliable apart from a problem twice with the ignition block - and that's in 10 years!

Although I have no idea what I'll get offered from the insurance, I can't see it being more than £1000 and the car is 2,800, even haggling I would have to put 1500 to it :(

Oh, and I bought the local paper yesterday for the jobs and there are just a few cars at the back - and it's one of those being advertised - I hardly ever buy the paper, the car is definitely stalking me!!!!! :rotfl:

I went for a bigger car (Micra to Xsara Picasso...bit of a leap!), and suddenly found my driving phobia all but disappeared. Why don't you just go and test drive it, see how it feels.

I paid £2300 for mine, but now I know the freedom of not being terrified every time I start the engine, I would have paid double that.

  • it's a sporty car though - this one for anyone I didn't bore about it the other day :D Insurance will be through the roof - I'm pretty sure it's a group 16.

For reliability etc, I should go for something like a Focus, but the cheapest are 3,600 I've found locally, which is wayyyyyyy over what I want to pay and then there's no guarantee they won't need repairing 3 months down the line

I should really be looking at cars around 1500 max, there's a couple of Vectra's that might be worth viewing - but again - huge engine size.

I hope that bloody old woman knows what hassle she is causing me. The fact she never even apologised still irks me :(

  • Yes,that would irk me too-I once went through someones hedge in my brand new Jag-grr!!! And although the insurers were great and paid for new hedge (and plenty more that wasn't damaged, but thats by the by)I still bought a nice card and wrote to apologise for the trouble......that'll teach me to swerve to avoid a fox when the roads icy....
