Unixgirl - thats a really good idea. I may have to steal that one for myself as I always forget what I've bought.
Not heavily in debt, but still trying to sort things out.

thought i'd link back in case there is any useful info thats not already been listed here. this is on my must do list for the summer, as its likely to be my last chance to do it at the leisurely pace i'd like  once ive started my PGCE time will be a precious commodity, so i must stop procrastinating and get round to it. no doubt i'll be bumping this thread up lots over the summer!

  • Hi,

After reading through MSE I have come to the conclusion that many people, like myself live by lists!

I have bought a folder with plastic wallets inside.

Here are the sections that I have already:

    Meal Plans
    Recipes
    Shopping Lists
    Cleaning Lists
    Budget Lists

    Any other ideas?
I am also wanting to make this folder for my children to look at in the future to help them when they leave home.

    Thanks guys.

    x:o

  • I'm a list person too.
I make a list at the beginning of every year of birthday and christmas presents that I need to buy for the year.... I am doing baskets this year and am trying to buy something every week to put away for making up the baskets - the list is very handy so i can cross off whats been bought and what I need to look out for ;)
  • Plans for your home - ideas, measurements etc can all go in there
Gifts needed - also gift ideas, gifts already bought, etc
Birthdays and other occasions which require cards/gifts
Movies you want to see/music you want to buy/that kind of thing
Places to visit/things to do - could include a list of free/cheap activities for when you've a day available with your kids
Emergency contacts - plumber, electrician, insurance companies, babysitters, neighbours, etc.
Items you own which need to be detailed in case of theft/loss/destruction
Memberships (leisure centre, gym, etc) and when they expire
Family details - birthdates, info on any health problems, surgeries, medications, etc - easy to forget the name of meds, for example, in an emergency
Banking details - include credit card numbers, loss/theft numbers for cards, details of payment arrangements etc - this list should be kept in a secure place though, not in an easily-accessible folder

For some of these it would be a good idea to keep a copy of the info elsewhere - e.g. keep a copy of insurance info at work or with a friend/family member in case the list itself gets stolen or destroyed.
  • One, a present list, present ideas for everyone you love

two a sizes list. the sizes of all the kids and your OH. The kids can look back and see what sizes they were when they were younger and how they have grown.

three have a look at the flylady's site for more ideas.
