Sunny girl - I just layered up unspun merino wool on bubble wrap (bubble side up), wetted it down with warm water and grated soap in a spray bottle

    CIMG2718.jpg

    CIMG2722.jpg

    CIMG2727.jpg

    - then added the next layer at 90 degress to the first - carried on for five layers, then, soaked it

    CIMG2729.jpg

    - wrapped it up in bubble wrap and continued to roll, then unroll and wet it until the fibres clumped - turning it occassionally to roll in the opposite direction.

    CIMG2730.jpg

Then I washed the detergent out with the shower and jumped on it until it looked okay :)

    CIMG2732.jpg

I wrung out the water then dried it on a towel over the radiator because I was in a hurry.

The little bit to make the flower I did the same layering thing (but more layers - 9 I think), rolled it up in a scrap if cotton, tied it tightly in a roll, shoved the roll in a pillow case and washed it a 50 degrees. When it came out it was hard and stiff enough to cut and hold it's shape, so I cut the flower parts out and wired them together.

I can't knit - well, I can do small freestyle things - but I am incapable of concentrating long enough to follow a pattern. I did felt a wool jumper by accident once though in the wash (just too hot!) and it was stiff enough for me to make flowers out of it.

I bought the wool from www.worldofwool.co.uk :) - they are unspun merino tops - you just grab handfuls off the end of the skein and it's lovely and soft.

I saw a shawl like it on etsy - but really couldn't justify buying it, so thought I'd have a go myself :)

  • Wow Celyn I have to say you are very talented. I've never in a million years be able to attempt something like that. If its involves glue and glitter I'm your gal but wool and fabrics don't get on with me :o

    Good morning all,

Diva, i had my first birthday card through today also :0) My grandmother is always on the ball (or going a little senile to the date as mine isn't until next Wednesday)

Jackieo - congrats to your dgs, what an exceptional boy you must be so proud :0)

Sunnygirl - thanks for asking he is a lot better today infact so much better i cant wait to get him back to school, i asked the nurse yesterday when he was in for a check when he could go back and the answer i got....good question!

Redruby, fingers still crossed here too for you x

NMLC - you know the answer to not gainig weight now, copious amounts of alcohol on a regular basis :0)

Katiesmummy, welcome back, i too am back after a long absence but these lot have really helped to keep me focused this last week and i plan on staying i hope you do too :0)

Celyn90, that looks lush and so warm, you clever thing, i can knit (only if someone starts and finishes it for me so really all i could ever make would be a scarf with a little help lmao.

Hugs to all in need x

Well i worked hard yesterday and sorted right through downstairs, bleached surfaces and floors, cleared clutter and made a sausage casserole (well sort of didnt have a casserole mix so just bunged in a tin of tomatoes, a tin of baked beans, a tin of chickpeas some herbs and a splash of lea and perrins) went down a treat with the kids but dont think i'll bother again.

Ewan Ds1 is staying with me this weekend whilst the younger 3 go to their dads, (i like to keep one each weekend to spend special time with alone and alternate them each week) It works well, the three not at home get day trips with daddy and the car, the one staying at home gets 48 hours of my complete attention and more importantly gets to see that mum doesn't moan and shout all the time!

Tea tonight is hm ham and pineapple pizza, that ewan and i will make together then slob eating chocolates with a dvd.
Tomorrow we plan to take the bus and do some christmas shopping and have lunch somewhere nice just the two of us.
Im looking forward to a nice relaxed weekend x

OMG did i really just waffle on that much?

    Leigh xx

It's much easier than knitting - I have huge admiration for anyone that can knit :)

Late to the pooter this morning, was running late for work and later still when I couldn't first get into the car and then couldn't get the screen clear enough to make it down the road safely!

Looks like I might be sharing my birthday on Monday with some of you peeps. Mine is a Big One with a 0 on the end of it. Likely to be a quiet day. I said that I didn't want a fuss at the mo, but might have a party in the summer. DH will be working away, so he can take me out for lunch on Sunday. Mum is cooking dinner on Christmas Eve in my honour, as we can all be together then.

It's sunny here at the moment, such a relief! I'm so tired of looking out of the window to see that it's raining again, although we haven't had the problems that it has brought so many people in recent weeks.

One more week of work - well only 6 hours but over three days. I might go in unpaid for an hour as the lads are having refreshments and fun one lesson. Might even cook them something.

More concerts this weekend. DS has band concert tonight, Liverpool Youth on Sunday, so we will have a pub lunch over there. I might bunk off the one on Monday, in favour of sewing club. See how I feel.

Dinner tonight ...well out for lunch with the girls for a snack, so might not bother with anything much tonight, must put the BM on before I go. I will do DS a pizza, he'd like that.

Got on with the cushion covers last night, but not finished. One is complete and another 7 started. Don't think that's quite enough. Will probably continue with that after lunch.

Hope you enjoy the rest of your day.

    hello again!

had my brekkie and it was yummy!:D am' full as a tick' which was a favourite saying of Lesley. Tiredmum - her daughter didn't go as she has a baby and a 3 year old to cope with but she did visit the other day.

My friend Jan is still poorly but we had a nice chat and she is being well cared for by her sister. The district nurse is calling later.

JackieO - well done to your DGS:T

got the heating on here as its freezing. DH has come home from work in a foul mood so hopefully a sleep will do him good and he might be better tempered when he's rested.
