    Mortgage-free Glee!
I'm going to watch this thread with interest. I wont be taking part, but there seems to be some great ideas coming out and people are being so positive and motivated.. :-)
I have a big plastic 'beer can' money box I bought years ago (it is about 18 ins high and about 8 ins wide) and for about 14 years filled it with one and two pence peices. Early this year, when it was about two thirds full, I emptied it and bagged all the coins up. There was about £71 pounds in all!

    Bingo Britain

    Register on the website

    Deposit £5

Play bingo and use all of your £5

The following day you will get £5 in your bonus money section

Play bingo and use all of your £5 (either spend it all at once or pre-buy tickets to use up the £5, if you only spend £1 of it and then win and then buy tickets .. the money will come from your cash balance)

Withdraw your winnings so you are left with zero cash

The following day you get £5 bonus money to play etc etc ... for 30 days

I'm now £45 in profit thanks to Bingo Britain

I mentioned this to my bro (who is always motivated for some reason).
The way he's always seen things like this is to break it right down.

Can you make an extra £1 a week? (for most people this would be easy)
    £2?
    £5?
    £10?

as soon as it becomes a 'hmm.. maybe'. thats your starting target for the 1st couple of weeks!
an extra £10 might be something as simple as a couple of hours overtime in work, £50 may be cleaning a few cars/mowing a few lawns on saturdays on the side etc.

also, someone mentioned louis theroux earlier.. i think i saw that episode where they talked about the power of positive thinking, one thing i did take from that was to avoid using the word 'problem'. in situtions where you'd normally say it, use the word challenge. So.. 'Mate can you give me a lift to the shops?' 'Yeah man, no challenge!' or something goes wrong 'We've come across a big challenge, the bake sale is in 2 hours, and the flapjacks aren't ready!'

turns the expression into something way more positive and optimistic!

  • Please add me on to this! I've started already and loving it. I followed suit and started bingo as someone said (Thanks for the post!) I've got the £10 into paypal, deposited £30 and withdrawn £110 with £35 left in my bingo account. Ace! I'm going to keep at that definately. As for other ideas... I'm losing the will to live with ebay (just had two people claim not to get items in the post and so made a massive loss gggrrrrrrr) but I'm determined to come up with other ideas.

Anyone ever tutored for the Open uni?? They're advertising...

Other ideas gratefully received!! Good Luck everyone!!!!

  • As an afterthought, I'm always being told I'm fantastic at baking (cookies, cakes, brownies etc) and would love to make some money out of it, but feel way too cheeky trying to sell to family and friends. Any ideas how I could make money out of it any other way?? How easy is it to sell to little cafe's etc? And how would I go about it? I'd be very grateful for some advice if anyones the slightest idea!!

I bought one of those cheap money jars that keep a running total on the lid, earlier in the year from Home Bargains, needless to say I have had to dip into it now and again, but I must keep my mitts off it now lol! :o

Count me in, have listed some stuff on Ebay today OH thought I was mad but all those people sat at home with Chrstmas money can buy my stuff - ha ha, I did a few car boots at the end of last year and made about £60-70 each time, all my own unwanted treasures plus I was given stuff from family members that they no longer needed so let people know if your doing them and with a bit of luck you'll get more stuff to sell. Couple of people going on maternity at my place this year so I know I've def got 4 hrs extra o/t per week which I normally get paid casual rate for so more per hour than usual.
Ideally would like to pay my c/c off with this and get some savings!!!

    Good Luck everyone

Also, i've found in the past that local papers can be a goldmine. not everyone is as computer savvy as us lot, and might not even own a computermabox.
as a bonus, the stuff is local and easy to pick up. some of the best deals ive gotten in the past were people selling games consoles and games for a single prices, when seperatly they're worth much more.
Also big stuff (furniture, bicycles etc) doesn't cost as much as you think to have shipped, especially if you look to courier companies.
AND they come to your door/workplace to pick the package up in the first place!

Hehe I'm all fired up now!
My plan is to clear my debts using only this £100 investment. as soon as it hits say.. 500 or 600, ill pay all but 100 off a debt and begin again. pointless letting interest build up!

    Debbie_debt - Heres an idea..
Make up a nice selection of what you can do easiest and cheapest, and make a little box with them in.
Pop into local cafes, and let them have them, and give them your card/contact details. have a chat with the owner, normally its someone who likes the odd cake.
if theyre up for it, make sure that you can cover your costs for each cake. when you're negotiating, an amazing 'tactic' is the personal gift.
no joke. state your price, talk about how great the cakes are, price again then say 'What i'll do aswell, i throw in a chocolate sponge for you as a thank you'
doing something personal for whoever is sat infront of you can swing the deal. true its technically bribery, but no-one tells the taxman about a cake ;)
