the secret to keeping it up, is do the things that interest and you injoy doing, its pointless doing ...lets say..... carboot sales on a regular basis if you dont like getting up early, and you hate hagglers.....

Too true. I will only visit car boots occasionally and will be there as a buyer only. Im starting by emptying my house of unwanted stuff and will then buy when I run out of stuff. I will also try charity shops too. The tutoring will be my best bet I think. May try bingo too and when my pot fills up Ill be taking advantage of bank freebies (moving money around). :D
:money: Saving money, saving the environment and saving space (aka decluttering) - my motto this year!

skintbint - can you make nice birthday cakes ? Lots of high street shops have closed and we can only get rubbish ones from the main supermarkets. Have you looked at postage of cakes? I wanted to set up a cheesecake mail order company years ago after reading of the success in USA. I chickened out, but several companies did set up and are still going - pants !

hi mmwtg thanks for the reply - i do make birthday cakes have tried posting a picture of the latest one but cant seem to manage as i'm a bit of a technophobe. i wouldnt like to post cakes as i would be devasted if somebody recieved a damaged cake. am going to look into selling baking at bootsales/fares but take a novelty cake to use for advertising and make up business cards and a folder of the cakes i have made already. will offer delivery of 30miles radius of where i live for a cost of course!

everybody has been really busy with their posts i am so glad to see everybody is motivated and meeting the challenge head on:T
i am going to give soap making a try too and enjoy sewing so have blagged a loan of my sistes sewingmachine so will see what i can rattle up - fancy making teddies but with cath kidson type material, door stops in shape of cottages? kiddies aprons and chefs hats and usual other stuff like carrier bag holders, tote bags. Am really lucky as there is a material factory in the next town that is open to the public and does really good quality material for a decent price. i am going to the tourist information centre and see what fairs/fetes are diaried in for the spring/summer and try and make contact with the organisers.

thats my first money in the pot £100, a thank you from my sister as i have my neice staying a couple of nights a week while she's at college and found a couple of standard life cheques that came in a while ago that i forgot about (£28) so they are all in an old bank account. making 1.28% of my 10k (i like figuring things out with %, sad i know )

I think one of the most valuable resources each of us have is our own hands.
Anyone can buy stuff, then sell it, but making stuff to sell is so much cheaper and personal.
So far on this thread, i've seen hamster beds & cakes! genius!
Im not very creative with my hands, but i always think things like.. Wedding and party invitations can easily be done by a mum while the kids are in school, while watching a bit of maury on the telly! Theyre personal, cheaper and customisable for the likes of gay couples, as i know a mate of mine had a bit of a kerfuffle as he couldnt find any Mr & Mr invitations/menus/other wedding paper stuff, im guessing its the same for Miss and Miss!
Valentines cards/baskets all personalised, maybe get together with a friend, and get them delivered by hand the their house on the day?

absolutely brimming with ideas here :p

Hi CTC - love this thread - even getting the kids to help.

playing free bingo is costing you something - time - I think the secret to this endeavour is going to be focus on what is most profitable, (so I should probably stop sitting here posting - at least you have a chance of winning something)
I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour
Drinking milk shakes, cold and long
Smiling and waving and looking so fine
