I'm here, but lurking more than posting as I haven't really been doing much more than researching so far. I've splashed another £11 on ebay for something I can recycle into my jewellery and hopefully make a lot more than that back. And I've been upstairs playing with some more jewellery bits - just messing with ideas and then when I get maybe half a dozen designs that I really like and I think will sell I can bash several out in different colour schemes. At the moment everything I do is totally different and I take a long time over it, so I need to pare it down a bit if it's to be in any way profitable.

I've got another idea to recycle something that I should be able to pick up for nothing, or near enough, so I'll play with some ideas for that soon.

I'm biding my time, thinking it through. I figure if I can be ready to sell some stuff in 4-6 weeks time I'll be happy as I doubt whether many people would be buying this sort of stuff this close to Christmas anyway.

Bumped into this poem again, always makes me think ...

"I bargained with Life for a penny,
And life would pay no more,
    However I begged at evening
When I counted my scanty store.
"For Life is a just employer,
He gives you what you ask,
But once you have set the wages,
Why you must bear the task.
    "I worked for a menial's hire,
    Only to learn dismayed,
That any wage I had asked of Life,
    Life would have willingly paid."

    Keep on keeping on :)

Friends of mine used to think I was greedy for expecting too much from life. When i discovered this poem some years ago< I printed it up for them as inspiration.

    They didnt understand it :rotfl:

Sounds like you have worked things out really well. The research will all be useful and often pays back many times the effort in the long run. Biding your time makes a lot of sense too I think. :)

  • think making things is nice but because is time consuming you'd have to factor in the cost of your time and make sure it's profitable. You could sign up to your local freegle group and ask for people to give you broken necklaces and all, thats a way of getting beads and other materials for nothing, I donated a big bag of pearl type beads to someone a few months back who was on a jewelery making course. I am a firm believer in 'where theres muck theres money myself...bootsales, auctions ebay etc. Forgot to say got my old mobile ready to go to a recyclng co £7.00 for that so I am almost up to £100 for one days work....am liking this!

well a good day here too...

17 books listed on amazon and if they all sell for the price I want then they will raise about £225 less fees ! I like amazon, hows easy is it to list!!:D

And I;ve had two sales on ebay today, one loss making (trial listing) and one item that I paid £30 and went for £67 so about £20 ish profit on one item! If only I could do that everyday!

Still not in profit overall yet but getting there!

Hope everyone else is having a good day....

Im new to all this would you mind giving further details. Thats about £13 a book, are these used and what are they? Also what did you buy for £30 and sell for £67.
  • hoe do u get a signature? and how good is amazon for selling books? I have tried ebay but its slow for books and greenmetropolis even worse, sell one every few months....was gonna try amazon but when books on there for 1p how do u stand in getting a good price? following on from a post earlier about car parts...a friend of mine had the car parts out of her neighbours skip (with permission) cos neighbour could'nt be bothered to sell them and she made several hundred pounds. Let your friend and family know what you are doing too I have had lots given to me in past cos people often just want clutter gone and with a bit of time and effort have made a few hundred overall

Well I've had the afternoon off as I've not stopped since Christmas.

Is everyone enjoying themselves ? I do find that if you buy/sell items you are actually interested in , it makes it so much better to keep interested in what you are trying to achieve.

    Have a great evening everyone.:j
