Earn £2016 in 2016 - £0.00/£10000 -
Four ebay items sold yesterday :j:j three have been paid for so I need to brave the weather and hope the post office will be open when I get there.
Another root around later for some more bits I think and I really should write a Dooyoo review too.0 -
Forgive me from stating the probably obvious but are people selling and working to save £10000 or are they continually investing their "profit pot" with the end state being £10000 in profit by the end of the year??
I think everyone is doing it the way it best suites them ... some people are upping income and some are counting savings made etc. Personally, I am building my initial stake from selling things I already have, rather than putting up the £100 straight away, mostly because I wanted to kick myself to get on with decluttering. As this challenge is the impetus, anything I get from selling these things is going in my pot, even though it may be over £100 (hopefully). Then I am going to try and turn that into the target. I have set myself a whole load of other challenges this year, so any savings I make, cashback or increased income etc. is going into those for me because that is the way I want to motivate myself. I see this as lots of people pushing to achieve the difficult targets they set themselves, coming together for mutual support and encouragement.

I am keeping a running profit total - currently at £6.00 but that is after taking off the amounts I have paid out for stuff, once I sell them I expect to be at around £120. The aim at the end of the year is to get 10,000 in cash. This is all from the initial £5 I put into So Bingo...;)Make £10k in 2010 Challenge: £19.70/£10,000 : Items to sell = £54.61150 NSD in 2010 Challenge: 8/150"He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose"0

Just a quick point I don't think I have seen mentioned ... We all have a Capital Gains Tax allowance (£10,100 for 2009/2010 ... not sure of level next year but I think around £200 more), so if anyone finds an old Monet knocking around in a car boot sale, the first £10,100 is tax free
(assuming you have not used your allowance elsewhere). Also, the new allowance kicks in in April, so all those Capital gains junkies out there can get 2 bites of allowance during this challenge. I know it is unlikely to all be used in this challenge but it may help mitigate some tax for some people. Oh, and if you go crazy with success, the CGT is 18% on amounts over your allowance (for now at least ... may change soon)

I've been busy this week with listing wrapping posting and work with overtime, so I apologise for not being here so often. Lots of people are well underway now which is great, but do not worry when you start, you could set yourself any deadline you want, remember there are no rules !
I'll be back later as I'm at work at the moment
