I wonder can he eat crispy bacon or is that not a good idea.?
He should really lay off it if the docs think the gall stones were caused/worsened by his diet. Bacon trimmed of all fat and then grilled is actually really tasty though if you can find good, thick bacon - Waitrose do the best thick cut stuff and it really is scrummy when you take all the fat off. Not very MSE, but it is ChristmasDespite the name, I'm actually a laydee!0 -
Croissants and fresh orange, kids usually start on the selection boxes- well it is Christmas after all0

We have Jesus' birthday cake for breakfast on christmas morning followed by chocolate fondue with LOTS of chopped up fruit! The kids love it and I'm happy because at least they start the day eating something healthy. All washed down with OJ/Bucks Fizz.0

I normally cook "Strata" in our house, just the thing to eat alongside the ENORMOUS glass of champagne that traditionally accompanies Christmas morning! It's so easy to make, and I prepare it just before going to bed on Christmas Eve!
Place 1cm slices of french stick in the bottom of a buttered 9 x 13 baking dish. Layer slices of mozarella over the bread and then top with thinly sliced tomatoes, onions and mushrooms.
Cover with more mozarella slices and some grated cheddar and then put more bread slices on top of this with a slice of tomato in the centre of each slice.
Combine 5 lightly beaten eggs with 300ml milk, salt, pepper and a pinch of mixed herbs. Pour over the bread and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Cover and refrigerate for 6 hours or overnight.
Bake for 1 to 1½ hours in a gas 3, 325 degree oven, or until knife comes out clean.
Let stand for 5 minutes to firm then top with snipped chives to serve.
It really sets you up for the long day of present opening ahead! :santa2:0 -
