Just got mine set up, thanks OP! Got the 600 minutes but no texts. I've only ever topped this phone up once about two years ago, it's just used as an emergency phone. I guess the free 300 texts are given to the higher usage users.

Got through on 450, then 3,2,3

If they don't budge, call back. Annoyingly it'll cost 25p each time - I managed to get it on the 1st attempt.

Just called again for another SIM card I had - this time I specifically asked for the 600 evening minutes AND 300 text offer and they added it without problem. I think I've only used this SIM once before - so it appears that usage habits are irrelevant. Now I need to call back and get the 300 texts added to the first SIM :D

EDIT: Done! To get the 300 text offer (for topping up £10) you have to change your tariff to "Free text top-up" where call charges are higher than the "same rates 24/7" tariff. Also there's a Bonus top-up scheme where you get a percentage back when you top-up, this is only available on the "same rates 24/7" tariff so you'll lose this if you decide to go with the free texts.

As the deadline for the 600 minute offer ends on the 30th, this is the most important thing to do. You can change between the two tariffs whenever you like and the 600 mins offer won't be affected (until it expires in 2 years).

Me again, good to see so many people have manged to take advantage of this offer (judging by the thread view count!). Thanks to MSE Andrea for the official insert, making it much more concise and to the point than my original post :)
I don't think Orange were expecting so many people to sign up to it, by the way they buried it in some obscure T&Cs!

Looking at the offer itself, it seems to be a very well thought out scheme to make PAYG customers behave as if they were on a contract, the first step towards converting them into proper contract customers (has anyone seen the stickers on some SIM packs recently? 'If you top up £5 or more a month, a contract could be better value for you'.)

In fact, seeing as you are going to have to remember to top up £10 every month on time and keep track of it, why not just set up a direct debit which also restores your 10% bonus credit if you have lost it by switching to the free text top-up tariff to get 300 free texts (and 1MB Orange World access BTW). Voila! You have just created you're own contract that is the cheapest there is. Don't forget to cancel it though after 2 years if a better deal has not come along by then. If you are spending £15-£20/month on PAYG, you will probably find a normal contract is better value for you anyway unless you use your phone infrequently.

As it is, everyone who has managed to secure this offer has got a stonking deal - if the full 600 minutes are used in a month, thats (0.15p x 600 mins) = £90/month, £90 x 24 months = £2160 saving over 2 years!? Have I done my sums right? That's assuming you're on the same rates 24/7 tariff where Orange-to-Orange calls cost 15p/min, they cost 20p/min if you are on the free text top up tariff, where you would save £120/month - thats £2880 over 2 years!

Of course this total could be reduced further if you had intended to, or usually use Orange extras - something you can still do seeing as you will have upto £240 (£10 x 24 months) to play with over the next 2 years.

You were probably told when you signed up for this offer that you will receive a text message confirming that you had got it, something you may or may not have actually received. When the offer is applied to your account at the start of a qualifying month, you should receive a text message confirming the offer. If you don't, and to make sure that you are getting the offer, call 453 and the amount of minutes you have left in the month will be read out after your balance, in the same way that extras are.

That's all I can think of for now, please post any questions you have about this or any other Orange PAYG issue, and I or another helpful MoneySaver will do our best to answer them for you.

10% FREE on mobile top-ups in June*

How much you earn depends on how much you top-up.

Mobile top-up is a new way to top-up. No more rushing down the shops or having to dig out your plastic, now you can top-up using your phone - and without even making a call.

    Just follow these simple steps:
    • go to your menu and select Orange Plus
    • select pay as you go, which will give you a top-up option
    • select this and enter your four digit ID code (PIN) (you would have received this from customer services when you first registered your debit/credit card)
    • select the top-up amount you want from the list
    • your account will be credited immediately, including the 10% extra free

Before you use mobile top-up for the first time, you need to register your debit/credit card with Customer Services. Just call 450. You only need to do this once.

    How to top up

*when you top-up by £10 or more

    Hi Folks,

Just called orange and registered three phones without a problem! I didn't know the pin for my dad's phone and i got the pin entry wrong so many times I was passed through to CS. Confirmed other details, and CS told me the PIN and added the 600 mins on without having to pay the 25p!

    Helps to be forgetful :)
    Waddle you do eh?

Does anybody know whether to take advantage of the orange bonus where you top up you get a certain percentage? Do you have to register an old sim and do you have to top up every month to get the bonus? Thanks
