At least with this promotion you can list at up to 4.99 for free - this is a good thing if you have items such as hardback books or vinyl LPs that might not sell - it hasn't cost to list and if they sell for the start price you won't be out of pocket.
A hardback book weighing a kilo costs £4.45 to post via Royal Mail. If you sell it for the top price of £4.99 you WILL be out of pocket after ebay/paypal fees.0 -

So if you sell at £4.99 and pay out £2.70 for postage and Ebay and Paypal fees, how much money do you actually make and does it compensate for the time spent photographing, describing, wrapping, and posting the book?0

Of course, takes a second to photo, minute to list and minute to wrap, then get someone else to take it to the post office :j
£2.70 postage
£0.37 PayPal
£0.50 eBay FVF
Maybe 3p ish for parcel tape
Still make £1.39 so its still 39p over my minimum for selling something
And the best thing of all, its one less piece of carp in the house :j0 -
9.9% Ouch!
I recently sold an item I paid £23 for £33 on ebay.
After fees and p+p it made a loss...0 -
I just tried to list a disc at £1.39, and it wanted to charge me 10p for listing. What am I doing wrong? Category was Music>CD
Thanks0 -

Takes me about 15 mins to photograph it, edit the pic, type the ad out; then after the win, pack it all up, take it to the post office etc
That's about £6 an hour pay to draw even (on the time you took) so it actually means unless you are paid the min wage then it makes sense for me to take it to the charity shop (next to the supermarket so no special journey); I get rid of the cr*p, do a good deed, and don't make a loss making ebay and paypal rich0 -

It should have shown nil when you got to the final screen, the first few screens do still show the insertion fees.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
