Seller wants more money

Hello
I won a skirt for £15 which is coming from Germany and paid £6 for postage. The seller has decided to send it by DHL instead of the method they were quoting for due to the value of the skirt. I received an email after the skirt had been sent asking for another £10 as postage had been £16, not £6. I'm pleased she's sent it insured but annoyed she didn't consult me first if she had underestimated costs; £10 is no small amount.
Do I send another £10?
Thanks

You are under no obligation at all to send more money. Any tracking and insurance is for the benefit of the seller not for you so seller should pay it.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. No! You bought the item as on the listing, not what they decide it is afterwards."There is no medicine like hope, no incentive so great, and no tonic so powerful as expectation of something better tomorrow." - Orison Swett Marden0

As a seller I wouldn't expect a buyer to cough up more money after they'd paid already. If I were you I would not pay more.0

Did P+P imply that it was overseas postage or national postage? If the later they might (emphasis on might) have a case. What is fair?
But at the end of the day you can walk away if you wish.0 -

The postal rate was from Germany to the UK. The seller decided post auction that due to the value of the skirt, she wanted to make sure it was covered with sufficient insurance. I think she did this with good intentions but I am really peeved she didn't look into this before listing or contact me before she paid the extra. Somehow I feel morally obligated and she has my sympathy. At the same time, I can't really afford to cough up £10.0 -
You're not morally obligated at all, she put the incorrect postage on her auction, her fault not yours.
Not just a pound or so either, but £10, that's quite a mistake.
You bought something that was costing you £21 to your door, now suddenly the price went up to £31............. absolutely no way.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -

As others have said you do not have to pay it.
I understand how you feel though as I can understand how she started off with good intentions but just didn't think it through properly.
You could always offer her 50% off the amount?
if you wanted to?
I am aware that you don't have to and others wouldn't but in this situation if I felt the buyer had made a genuine mistake then I would consider it
Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...0 -

Not one little bit to do with the buyer.
Yes, I understand what you are saying...not a mistake as such.
I meant she made a mistake as a seller for not checking out the postage correctly beforehand - so yes, nothing at all to do with the buyer.Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...0 -
Before you feel too responsible for paying it think of this, she did'nt pay the extra to get it to you any quicker, or to prevent from damage, she paid extra to prevent herself from a paypal claim for non reciept, so when you look at it that way, you'd be paying extra for her thinking your a potential scammer
Did you know you can get Viagra software now??? Yeah, it turns your floppy drive into a hard drive
