    Hiya Penny,

Apologies for any rule breaks, I was simply links to the Cranfields Chutney recipe, not my own site? (however, seeing as though its my mum's I understand the confusion!)

The recipe is also up on the CH4 site now as others have linked to so no worries :)

    xx

I'm sorry to say this, and it's my biggest bug bear with her, Nigella et al. The 'edible glitter' they use isn't actually edible. Some are made by a company called EdAble Art, but they still aren't for use on food items, Disco dusts are another non edible glitter.

Most have a warning that appear that say 'non toxic' (and occasionally expanded with 'for craft use only') which does not mean that they should be eaten, they are indigestible. On a good day, that'll just mean that the ahem, by product, will be sparkily. On a bad day, someone could have an allergic reaction. They should be used only on items that will not be eaten (for instance, on a cake, an item that would be removed before serving).

If however, you're referring to a product called Magic Sparkles, then these are completely edible, and so carry on.....or if you're using them on an item that won't be eaten.

I don't mean to get on my high horse, and sorry for anyone who already knows all this, or uses something like Magic Sparkles, but there does seem to be a huge amount of 'celebraties' using these products on items that are meant to be eaten, and actually stating they're safe for use on food, when they're no such thing.:mad::mad:

i did not know this, i bought my first ones from a specialist cake decorating shop years ago and have suffered no ill effects- the packaging is very misleading... however i still love the effect so i think i'll carry on using them in moderation... maybe stop putting it on top of my coffee though... lol
