I know it has been mentioned before, but it is worth getting a Tesco Clubcard for every person in the household. Although you don't necessarily get more points, you do get two to three times the vouchers. And, as has been said before, quite often you get two lots of money off a single purchase if the vouchers are the same.
We've also noticed that when they send vouchers to my husband, it is for the stuff we buy every week, whereas when I get them, it tries to get me to buy things that wouldn't be out of place in my shopping trolley, but wouldn't be our normal purchase. I'm convinced they think women are more experimental.
The most important reason to get more cards though has been this... Before Christmas, Tesco sent a 'double your points' voucher which we saved for our Christmas shop. We presented both mine and my husbands vouchers, which doubled up and gave us quadruple points on our biggest shop of the year. Thanks to subscribing to MSE.com I discovered that MFI were pulling out of the deals scheme completely by end April 2007. That spurred me on to furnish my two spare bedrooms. I went to the MFI website and planned them in the comfort of my own home. I chose the items of furniture required, costed them and then went to the store to place the order. I used £545 in tescos deals vouchers (5x£100, 4x£10, 1x£5), and had to pay difference of £100. This included delivery charge of £20 (haggled down from £30), half price sale and extra 20% off. Tescos turn around of vouchers to deals vouchers is really quick at 3 days. Incidentally, the Quebec range bundle advertised in newspapers/in store for £199 only contains 3 items of furniture. On the website they include a 4th item for the same money, which the store honoured! All in all brilliant savings.:money:0

shupa wrote:Olav, I recently got £265 in vouchers from Tesco. It came as 4 vouchers - 2 for £100, 1 for £60 and 1 for £5. It looks like vouchers get sent out in denominations of 100's 10's and 5's so unless you are ordering more than £1500 worth of vouchers you should be ok!
Just to let you know that I ordered something from MFI for £870 (that was the price after the deposit, they reduced the deposit to 10% as they normally ask for 20% - worth asking for reduction if you have lots of money in vouchers). I got vouchers from Tesco in these quantities:
8 x 100
7 x 10
That is 15 vouchers in total. They don't seem to do £50 vouchers. So if you have something for £1080 you may get 18 vouchers. You can always use the 10 £100 vouchers and only the 5 of the £10. Or you can ask that they split the transaction in to two separate ones if possible.0 -
It's also worth knowing that MFI will not give you change on your clubcard vouchers ... or so they said - we'll see when the mailing comes next month. We bought what should have been £700 of bed in their special offer for £600 of vouchers (should have been just under, but they let me pay the delivery charge with vouchers too). So in all, a beautiful comfy king size bed for £150 vouchers. Fab!Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 002 :rotfl:0

I have volunteered my card in this situation, many times, and never had anyone refuse (and it is really up to the customer not Tesco). I always say it in a jokey sort of way "ooh, if you don't want one you could always use my card... be a shame to waste all those points if tesco wants to give them away..." that sort of thing. Always works for me!0 -
as well as other customers at the checkout, as mentioned above by shupa and moore590, what about other friends/family members who don't, or won't, have a clubcard? (they do exist, i know it's unbelievable!)
my mum&dad won't have loyalty cards as they don't want the junkmail, or companies collecting info about them etc.
but i have asked them if they will use an additional card on my account (i.e. their name and address is not involved in any way) and they have been doing, this is for food and petrol, and it has made a huge difference already.0 -

I know what you mean, my mum or best mate don't use them even tho they know what I get out of it, so my mum is with powergen and has a clubcard, and I'm with my best mate when she does her shopping, I don't think I would offer a customer in front of me to use my CC incase they got my precious till spits :rotfl:0 -

Olav, I have a £60 clubcard deals token so I don't think there are set denominations, don't order them on line, speak to someone and explain the situation.:j CRAZY NUTTER NO 16 :j:T MURPHY'S NO MORE PIES NO 15 :TSince Jan 2007Quidco £294, Not smoking £284, Tesco stamps £32, Wilkos £4Weight loss start date/weight 1st Feb - 15st 10lbToday 12th Mar - 14st 13lbvik6525 you are my inspiration xx0 -
Just something to make you giggle.......................!
I was out wombling in the rain the other day and as I'm beginning to get to know the customer service desk staff I decided that as the receipts I found were looking a little weatherbeaten I would iron them.
To my horror right before my eyes they turned black!!!
Oh NOOOOOO!!! Luckily I only ironed the smaller points first!0
