If you register your Nectar card with the Daily Mail (on line) and enter the numbers on the back page every day you will be credited with 5 points each day. Saturday you get 10 points and Sunday you will get 15 points. Enter 5 out of seven days consecutively and receive a bonus of 30 points.0

Apologies if this has already been mentioned, as I am new here but really annoyed that Nectar no longer offer Merlin Passes as a reward. They never even mentioned it on their website, it was only posted on Merlin’s own website for 22 days. Have been saving for ages & now no use for points. Grrrrrr0

Sainsbury's from time to time holds a number of promotional opportunities for its customers including X10 bank holiday promotions, 25% off clothing and point coupons at the till. I am curious to know how shoppers maximize there points?
Do you spend your points as soon as you reach the minimum threshold?
Do you save your points until a special occasion such as Christmas?
Do you spend your points elsewhere, only using Salisbury's to build up your points?
Do you use the endless coupons given at the self service / till?
What are your best tricks in maximizing points??Trinidad - I have a number of needs. Don't shoot me down if i get something wrong!!0 -
I have a Sainsbury’s bank credit card which I use to buy all my fuel, this gives you extra nectar points. The Sainsbury’s Petrol prices up the road from me seem to quite low anyway so I get a good deal.
When they’ve got one of those double up events I usually exchange my points that weekend and buy something. :money:Previous competition wins:
2016 - x2 Portsmouth Park and Ride Tickets, Body Shop Gift worth £30, £100 Dunelm Gift Voucher :j0 -
Mine's linked to my Ebay account and over the weekend there was 8x points when you spent £10+.
I also check Nectar.com on a regular basis as there's often extra points that you can load to you card or by buying from certain shops via the Nectar website0 -
It's Sainsbury's not Salisbury's.0

I just save the points and take them off the shopping bill when I am buying for a special occasion. I do use the till spits when I can - I wouldn't buy something just because of the points but I do check whether it's worth changing brand for 100 bonus points. As deely said - worth looking at nectar.com for extra ones to load to the card.
The annoyance is the vouchers for 5x points when spending over £40, £50, £60. Every time I get to use one of these - the next one is for a higher spend. It then stays there for months before dropping down again. there are only so many times you can buy an extra bottle of wine to hit that target :beer:I need to think of something new here...0 -
I can't say that Nectar encourages me to use Sainsbury's at all. I do almost all my shopping in Aldi and just use Sainsbury's for the odd thing that Aldi don't sell as it's the nearest supermarket to our Aldi. At one time I'd say that it was probably more like 50:50 but Aldi have so improved their range. I just buy out of the ordinary herbs and spices there, some YS meat and fish and occasionally some bread. I also stock up on wine when it's 25% off and spirits on offer although I don't think that attracts points. Unfortunately our Sainsbury's doesn't have a petrol station.
I have a Nectar card, a Sainsbury's card and DH has attached it to his eBay account so the points mount up. I wouldn't deliberately shop there or pay over the odds for an item though. I tend to use them to pay for particularly small bills or have occasionally stored them up for Christmas.0 -
You missed the 10x points weekend!
One of my Nectar point coupons was 140 points when getting something from a Mexican food brand (it began with S) and the cheapest thing was £1. Then I got another coupon for the same again, Bought the same thing. So I got 300 points for spending £2.
Now since Sainsburys now owns Nectar - why can't you collect points at Argos, which they own? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
