Morning people, I am new to this discussion area, i currently have 5300 miles, do you think I will get a decent package deal for that price , somewhere nice and hot.
where would you go with those miles, lets say in 3 months time or is it better to use than out of Season like October?
Thanks0 -

It depends on what you want and for how many people - If you can get to 6,000 miles you have a lot more choice (or you can pay some cash). I normally use miles just for flights and then i get my own hotel /apartment.
My personal view is to fly in Late October and November as why leave a warm country to go to a hot country? I fly when its ice cold in the UK as i love September in england.0 -
Hi Cundall
It probably just be for me, I can prob reach 6000 by then, what does accomodation work out to be roughly, i know obviously depends on which country you go to but i am open to some suggestions, I am undecided somewhere hot though thats for sure.
Not fussy about where is stay...as long as its clean . ..

Did you have a look at deals on-line? Airmiles release deals every Thursday, that might give you an idea of what deals you can get. I don't think there was any package this week, but there were 3 last week for example.
Also it's great way of letting it decide for you if you are undecided (when you spot deal you like):)
As for an idea about the cost of the hotels... really you have to pick a country first before you will be able to get an idea of hotel cost... the differences can be massive by countries and also by areas in a single country.0 -
£60 off anything = 1000 airmiles.0

FYI
I have just booked MAN > HKG with Qatar.
I paid the £10 more than it would cost me to book direct but for this it gave me 62 airmiles for the flight and 50 airmiles for paying with my Amex
Keep and eye out if you are going to book a flight and think about booking it direct with airmiles (if you do not have enough miles for the full trip).
---- Airmiles do not understand airmiles
I booked the flight over the phone as i wanted to ensure i booked in K class as i get 100% miles on Qatar while some websites were booking me into H (50% mileage). The sales women did not seem to understand this so i tried to explain but she just repeated... you can book online. I stated to her that it does not state on the website what was the booking class but she did not seem to understand.
Anyway all booked in the correct class in the end0 -
Is anyone still waiting for their Airmiles membership number from the Tesco double up airmiles. I'm desperate to start earning more airmiles. When I changed my tesco vouchers over it said I should receive a 'pack' but I have nothing as yet.Thank you all who post.0

There is something very fishy indeed with how BA provides Air Miles seats as it is clearly not just related to days when the lowest possible cash fare on that route is available.
For instance taking London Gatwick to Marseille three weeks ago a search to go out there on say 11th May and coming back on 20th May would bring up a full month planner and most dates were shown as available on Air Miles apart from Friday 14th on both flights, one of the Saturday flights and the morning Sunday flight outbound and only coming back on Monday 17th and Tuesday 18th May were not available. But now even going out on 10th May and coming back on 18th or 19th May when the cash fare each way is a mere £58 does not generate any available Air Miles seats or bring up the month planner to show on what dates they would be available.
Why is this when we are told Air Miles seats are now available right down to a few hours before departure if they are not sold out and the cash value of the return fare here at www.ba.com is a mere £106. By contrast on the London City to Palma route the AirMiles website will offer availability on any date pair where either both cash fares are £69 (the lowest possible cash fare on the route) or where one is £69 and the other is £79. So from LCY to PMI the maximum value of 1500 Air Miles is £148 but on LGW to MRS Air Miles/BA will not now permit you to book a seat combination where the return cash value is a mere £116. As far as I know when availability was possible from LGW to MRS three weeks ago on loads of dates for the week before and after the Monaco Grand Prix (May 16th) the cash fare value was no higher, unless possibly there were flights at £48 one way on some dates.
The bottom line is that the seat allocation strategy of BA to Air Miles is not readily fathomable as if 1500 miles allow the booking of a seat worth £148 for cash on ba.com from LCY to PMI then why is the same thing not true on the cheap fare (because the route is based on an ex Dan Air based fleet with lower cabin staff wages than from LHR) LGW to MRS route.
Clearly LGW to MRS is not selling very well for most dates in the period 9th to 25th May or the cash fares would be a lot higher than they are so why won't they let the seats go to Air Miles customers when they were happy to do so a couple of weeks ago? Their actual strategy seems to be remove Air Miles availability in any situation when they think there is a severe danger of too many customers being able to redeem their Air Miles and not just because the cash fare price has now gone up to higher levels.:mad::mad:
EDIT:- Even looking further ahead after the Monaco GP is over I see that even going out on 18th or 19th May when the cash fare is £49 one way and coming back on 24th, 25th, 26th, 27th, 28th or 29th May when the cash fare is £57 one way that the Air Miles website refuses to offer Air Miles availability and instead tries to flog you a cash seat at £98.74 plus 5 Air Miles. This is pretty weird as the ba.com fare is actually £106 return so it suggest that Air Miles still have access to the cheapest seats at £48 each way with the £2.74 being the usual airmiles.co.uk surcharge level above ba.com seat prices. Although normally airmiles.co.uk is never cheaper than the seats currently available on ba.com
There is something very, very wrong here and airmiles.co.uk clearly have a strategy of removing availability when they think too many customers might use up their Air Miles and not just because the cash fare on the date in question is not one of the lowest possible ones. So airmiles.co.uk says that 1500 miles is now allowed to equal a value of £98.74 on the LGW to MRS route. I say that this means they are a totally devious and deceitful outfit and no wonder their Legal Director (Natalia Sykes) is usually brought in to respond to complaints about dismal AirMiles availability on some routes.:eek::eek:0
