  • Why don't you join the Christmas savings scheme? You don't seem to be using the vouchers regularly anyway, so it wouldn't be an issue only having them sent out once a year instead. That way you'd only have to worry about vouchers expiring once a year.

And if you did decide that you didn't want to wait til November, you could just ring them up and they would send you the whole balance with a fresh 2 year expiry date with your next club card statement.

Thanks for this very useful information ernie-money. This sounds like a good plan, especially in terms of only needing to renew vouchers about to expire in the next 12 months once a year. I didn't even know they ran such a scheme and thought that quarterly vouchers in the post was the only way that they did things. Obviously if I only get vouchers once a year for a larger amount I am likely to pay them far more attention and take the appropriate action when they do finally arrive.

The only really long term 4x Clubcard Deals scheme that has not altered at all is the Irish ferry companies and as the four times reward rate only actually equals the cost of a cheap weekend return cash fare with Norfolk Line across the channel (i.e. £50 return instead of the ripoff £200 return charged to the English for cash fares for taking a ferry and passengers to Ireland) I can totally see why it remains economically viable. By contrast It still beats me how Pizza Express and Cafe Rouge actually make any money at all on the four for one deal.

NGM, just a thought, you could sign up with tesco homephone/broadband too if it didnt work out dearer, i think you get 1 point per pound spent there, tesco mobile is 3 points per pound, also Eon gas and electric, thats 1 point per £3, also if your ever about to buy something like furniture/appliances, check tesco direct prices, and get it from there. It all adds up slowly, might mean you could have that trip a little quicker :)
Everyone who thanks me when ive helped will get a 5% share when I win this weeks Euromillions......:p

    Hi sadeelisha

Just thought I would give you a quick heads up. E.ON currently award 1 point for every £2 spent on energy if you are on a qualifying tariff.

    Hope this is useful. :)

Unfortunately I also need a full speed broadband connection and not one that slows to walking pace at peak time so I don't think this would suit me. I'm currently with a small broadband provider called ADSL24.

The Powergen AirMiles tariffs was much more expensive than the cheapest energy tariff available at my postcode when I last checked. I wouldn't pay extra to collect Air Miles at the low Powergen (now Eon) allocation rate. £2.50 of Tesco vouchers = 120 Air Miles (the recent Tesco/Air Miles double rate promo) is a bit different.

Hi, I exchanged £56 worth of clubcard vouchers in the double airmiles promotion (on march 19th), but I've finally got the paperwork for the airmiles account, and when I log on I don't have the double points, just the usual 60 per £2.50 (1344 airmiles) rather than 2688 which I thought I should have.

Should I moan to Tesco or airmiles? I know I shouldn't be looking a gift horse in the mouth but I would not have converted them if the promotion hadn't been on. I was hoping to get us 2 european flights for our wedding anniversary in July.

You should moan to Air Miles as they and not Tesco are definitely providing the doubled up part of the miles from this promotion.

I converted a humble £31.00 of vouchers that will not be subjected to any security checks on March 19th and am still waiting too for the double element of the miles.

Air Miles obviously had thousands of people convert Tesco vouchers in the last few days of the double airmiles for first time Tesco Clubcard voucher converters offer and it would seem that Air Miles being as inefficient and unautomated as they not infrequently are (and as most of the BA group of which they are part also is, which is why they are losing so much money) probably have a human manually approving the miles doubling on each and every transaction. For which read some idiot tight fisted accountant at BA did not approve the sytem upgrade that would have done it automatically and being as inefficient as BA is in all systems related matters the computer upgrade required woud have been for 15 times the amount required at Easyjet or Ryanair.

I would say its nothing to worry about unless you need to book with the extra miles urgently. If you do then log in to your online airmiles account (if you already have a username and password) and send them a message pointing out the double miles have not yet credited to kick them in to action. This will save you needing to call the ripoff 0844 number and getting passed around 6 departments before you finally (if you are lucky) find someone who admits responsibility for dealing with this issue. And this will be after you have had to wait up to 20 minutes listening to music at 5p per minute first.

I personally prefer to wait until they have taken so long that I can then reasonably email their Chief Executive (andrew_swaffield@themileagecompany.com) and also copy his fellow board members to point out they are generally failing to implement the promotion as promised while Tesco honoured their side of the bargain as normal in 48 hours. Hopefully I can then expect a few hundred Air Miles in compensation.

Cool thanks for the advice NGM!!! I'm glad I'm not the only one. I will wait patiently for a while.

eddy123 reported in Post 1264 on the paidtoshop discussion forum on 29th March that Tesco vouchers they had converted to Air Miles had only doubled up that day, 32 days after they converted them to Air Miles on the Tesco website.

    http://www.paidtoshop.co.uk/showthread.php?p=1147563#post1147563

I'm actually on day 34 here myself in relation to the day of exchange and still waiting but having exchanged two days before the end of the promotion on the 19th March I expect that the backlog of double conversions to be cleared at Air Miles is a lot longer than it was for Tesco vouchers converted back on 25th February.

Of course why they need to do any manual processing with something that could all have been done by a computer is something you would need to ask Mr Andrew Swaffield, the CEO of The Mileage Company who operates BA's two miles schemes (Air Miles and BA Miles).

    Hi,
I also converted in the double points promotion and after 32 days I emailed them where my points are (they advise wait at lest 28 days otherwise they will just send you standard reply "wait 28 days"). They replied that due to high interest they are a bit behind in applying the points for which they apologise.
My double points turned up on day 36.
  • I presume that the irony of their timing (in view of the current complete UK airspace closedown) is perhaps lost on them unless it was deliberate but I see that today the AirMiles home page has been altered to show that you can now collect Airmiles when buying train tickets through their new partner - www.mytrainticket.co.uk

Although perhaps Air Miles have been told we could all be travelling by train long distance for months to come and that whilst we do so there is still an opportunity for us to all be collecting miles hard towards that far off day when we can once again fly anywhere from a UK airport..................

Still no sign of my double Air Miles by the way.
