Hope you can help an airmile newbie?
I have just signed up for a tesco credit card and already have a clubcard.
Want ing take a trip to NZ but as a family of 4 its expensive, last time I looked at airmiles website a few years ago flights were expensive, but just looked today and same as going straight to airline. So more hopeful.
But it looks like you get more miles for your money on BA miles?
Interested in how you managed to get enough miles for free trip to Aus?
Thanks in advance0 -
Thanks for your replys. We've not used any club card vouchers for airmiles before so I'll look at this getting it sorted. I think we've got about £150 of vouchers which isn't an enormous amount but its a start.
I wanted to use the airmiles off a Thomsons Holiday to Cape Verde in November for us and my DDs. We are doing our 1st Florida trip in May which I'd already booked through Airmiles and my Lloyds account though just used the discount but I did put it on my DUO card so I got more Airmiles. My BF wasn't keen to spend alot on going away in November but if sorting this out will give us quite a bit off he may just agree.
Many thanks.0 -
I tried, unsuccessfully, early last year to get an AirMiles flight to Australia for this year but it was impossible even at that early stage to get flights around any of the dates I would need to fit in with various possible cruises from Sydney. The exercise did, however, reveal that you cannot break your journey on an AirMiles flight to Australia whereas you can on a BA Miles flight. Further proof of Non-GeographicalMan's argument that AirMiles is the second class scheme, even though you effectively buy your ticket when you exchange Tesco Clubcard points for AirMiles. If you take the AirMiles flight, you must be prepared for the longhaul - there's no chance to rest your body half way.0

That's 60 lots of £2.50 vouchers converted at the double rate of 120 miles each = 7200 miles. Is that really not a lot of AIr Miles in your book.
Also are your sure all those vouchers are still valid as Tesco now invalidate the Clubcard vouchers after two years unless you manage to remember to ask for replacements to be issued within three months of the date on which they expire.0 -
You can if you havnt allready ask Tescos to merge your clubcard accounts then you can use both of yours vouchers in one purchase on the clubcard website.
Same thing goes for the Airmiles scheme you can register for a household account and this means both yours and your BF`s miles can be put in the same pot and used on flight. (this requires you both to have an online account though)
And no theres no limit on ammount of miles you can use if you have 10000miles thats 1 completly free trip to OZ. They do do some part miles part cash should you not have enough to where you want to travel.
so to merge an account you need to say everyone lives at the same address have you done this ok?0 -
Is the double Airmiles still on offer when you convert your Tesco vouchers into Airmiles for the first time? I've looked on the Airmiles website but can't seem to find anything.0

Yes, up till end of March (I think). Check out the clubcard website under "partners" - it tells you there.0 -
got the bonus miles applied to the account today.
took approx 6 weeks from the original order date with Tescos deals.0 -
Sorry if this has already been asked but does anyone know whether airmiles are any more generous than BA miles (or vice versa)?
They seem quite similar to me, but I already have some BA miles so I'm guessing thats the better option.0
