Think I'll stick my 3000 miles on Ebay. They seem to go for silly money!

How does this work? It's not like you have paper vouchers you can sell or anything. How would you transfer them to someone else?

We got 2 flights to NYC in 2007 with our airmiles (5000 points per flight) - through food shopping, Tesco credit card and petrol. We're now at 8060, so should be able to get 2 flights to NYC again by next year, so doesn't take long to add up.

Ah, just remembered tho that I'm on an accelerated conversion rate of 80 miles instead of the normal 60 miles, but that's only my account not DH's.

It's worth it as its just a bonus for using your credit card as cash back currently is so low. If i could get a fixed 1% on a visa card i would just use that.

The Shell Citi Mastercard gives you 3% back on Shell petrol and 1% on all other purchases on the card. However the reward is only paid as a discount off Shell petrol purchases the following month. So no use to anyone who doesn't drive a car but great for anyone who does as petrol is so expensive you will always use up the cashback accumulated. They also give you up to 6 months to spend the cashback accumulated on Shell petrol if you are out of the country for a while or something.

Has anyone else had their Air Miles stolen by the company? I had several thousand Air Miles, but because I hadn't used them for a considerable time they have been cancelled!

They shouldn't have stolen them from you yet. They are threatening to steal them shortly if you haven't collected any new Air Miles for two years or something and don't add any new Air Miles soon. I haven't collected any for over two years and have nearly 10,000 Air Miles and they haven't stolen my Miles yet. I am just about to spend £10 on my Lloyds Amex card to ensure I get a mile credited and have also changed my Shell Drivers Club card back to earning miles to ensure they don't con me out of them.

However it is just not true that they have written to all members about the changes in their rules as others have claimed. I used to get regular postal mailings and emails from them but they stopped sending them without consulting me after I stopped collecting any more new Air Miles. They have never written to me to tell me I will lose my Air Miles or have to pay a £30 booking fee if I don't collect any new Air Miles soon. If anyone does have their miles stolen by Air Miles I would immediately email their CEO (andrew_swaffield@themileagecompany.com) and copy various leading travel journalists to put pressure on them to reinstate them.

Apparently you can 'merge' accounts online so you provide the winning bidder with your airmiles online account details and leave it to them. If I can get £250-£300 for them as seems likely that's better for me than the airmiles which now seem to be growing slower than ever!

You must spend a fair bit to have accumulated that amount or been pretty smart.

I have been collecting since January 2008 and have nearly 8500 Airmiles.

It's not particularly hard: I put everything I can on my AMEX (but hardly ever use the Mastercard), do all the Tesco offers possible (1,000 points for a new car insurance policy which was cheaper anyway, 1,000 points for a car breakdown policy, the recent WAP offers, etc etc), collect Shell points, and look on the Airmiles website for offers. I bought contents insurance and got 750 Airmiles, opened a Lloyds TSB current account for another 1000 Airmiles, and do all my online shopping through the Airmiles eStore.

I've not been informed about any of those offers otherwise I'd have probably done them.........

Are any of these offers still available?

Probably not. I listed a collection of offers I've taken advantage of over the last 17 months or so - but all of them I found through the MSE website or by regularly looking through the Airmiles website.
