Hi, I am buying a new computer which has XP on it but no other software. I have found a really cheap Microsoft Works 8.5 on ebay but my daughter is nagging me saying we will need Microsoft Office instead which is far more expensive and then will make the deal I'm getting on the computer too much. Can anyone enlighten me as to what the major differences are between the two programmes and whether Microsoft Works would be ok to use. My daughter says she needs powerpoint and excell for school work but we don't currently have them on our old computer that I'm using now and I don't know if they come with Works or Office. Please can someone advise me asap. Thanks

If you buy a PC it usually comes with Works pre installed as standard these days, not always but most of the time. Works is a scaled down Version of Office.

Just get this its free. http://www.openoffice.org/ and very good. :)

Get Open Office instead of any Dodgy Copies that may come with Spyware its not worth the hassle of the copyright fine.

Microsoft will not update copied software.... And the fact another exploit has just been found in excel means you could end up with security holes all over your system.
