  • Fair enough but my Boots is a small one and will probably only only have about 5(if any:rolleyes:) so it only takes a few people to stop others getting it.

Has yours not been extra stock of the OOTW in though? My local is tiny, one of the old Alliance chemists, and every week they had a big pile of the OOTW at the tills even though they don't normally stock it. Thats why i'm heading there rather than one of the larger stores.

Could Boots SAs who read this thread, advise what she can do please? I suggested going back, speaking to the Manager, and asking if she could exchange it for another "Green Label 3 for 2" item, worth about £26, like, for instance the No 7 Pink Pleated Bag set.

Thats really annoying for your friend, and i'd definitely advise her to return to the store to sort it out. I'd have thought, as you do, that they would have allowed her to exchange to another item in the 3 for 2 range at the current selling price as thats what has happened to me in the past. Would a call to CS to clarify the situation help at all?

I go on holiday on the 18th, for a fortnight. Flight is fairly early in the morning so no chance to pop out and try and get this before leaving for airport. Does anyone know, please, if I can order it at Manchester airport and pick it up either on my return or (better) at another store? And if I can order and pay in points, I will be in heaven.

I asked customer services by e-mail and they didn't read the question properly and just told me I needed to purchase the item when it was on offer. As if my query made sense without my knowing that!

The OP suggestion may not be fraudulent or illegal but i think it is morally wrong. You are making a full price purchase with the full intention of taking it back to get it at a cheaper price. Some may be comfortable with that, i am not.
We all like a bargain and play the system one way or another but i think doing this on your own is one thing, but shouting it from the roof tops is quite another.
However, the wider issue is, if this was to happen wide scale, and if Boots were to get wind of this before hand, they could, in the long term, make things difficult concerning refunds in future.

I have ordered from one store for delivery to another, but that was for lines not stocked or out of stock at that store.
Another alternative may be if there is internet access at the airport, you could order for delivery to your local store.

There's no way I could return anything, without a receipt, to any of the branches I visit, and get a gift card. They are all adamant now that you exchange for other goods there and then. If you have a receipt, they'll refund your cash/points/credit card.

A friend had a birthday last month, and received an Elle Bag (not from me!), which she didn't want.

She didn't have a receipt, and the green parcel label had been peeled off, but she didn't know if it had cost £40, £26, £20, bought individually, or as part of a 3 for 2 set.

And that's where the problems started. The SA said it was currently £26, but it might have been the "free" article, if it was on 3 for 2, so she couldn't do anything.

Not sure if it is any help, but the 3 for 2 was taken off when the Elle bag was OOTW.
    It wasn't available online 342.
I think though maybe a few stores were late removing the offer & a few slipped through..I know I read a few people managed to talk their way into a 342 offer, but most didn't get this.
Lol...I think they got burnt with the 342 on Sanctuary & the offer has been removed ever since when an item is OOTW.

Doh..just realized this doesn't make much difference to the question as it could have been bought 3 for 2 at any time....sorry.
  • Hi Sparky and Claire, thanks for your replies. I'm actually breathing very deeply, cos I was one of those who got the Elle Bags 3 for 2, at £20, and was umming and aahing whether to give one to my friend, and gave her some S & G stuff instead. Phew!

I think you're right, Customer Services would clarify what to do, and probably give her a ref number as well, that she can quote in store.

I just wondered what the SAs who've posted on here would do? Thanks.

    xx
