jabawalky, you fail to see the full story, I did take a loan and I did make the payments.
When I got the loan I did not expect the car trade to drop off so much that I could not make ends meet. I have sold cars for over ten years and have never experienced such a economic downturn regarding peoples spending. I did make arrangements to pay the loan and at no point avoided the problem hence a payment reduction until things started to get better as they now have. I did not run and hide from them and have always had full intention to repay the loan. I agree that people who set out to defraud should have the full weight of the law thrust upon them but can assure you this was in no way my intentions . I have always tried to avoid being in any form of debt and obviously do not enjoy what I now have to do . I do this to stop the genuine people being stamped upon by illegal means and please let me assure you the law is on my side and yes as a general rule this would be a civil matter. After stating my case to the west yorkshire police they are now investigating upon my insistence as are the financial ombudsman and trading standards. My aim is to have the consumer credit licence revoked or suspended pending investigation. This can only be done if I gather enough evidence (not the people who had no intention of paying) to stop them ! As the days go on I now have 8 people who have wrote to me with various storys regarding financial plus and to be honest yes some are just trying to get something they dont deserve. I have wrote to these people and explained I can not help them. Taking money from the customers who have no intention to pay or goods to the value of I believe acceptable but not from those who have tried to sort things out. I will not rest until this is sorted as I would not only be letting myself down but leanne who had £1358 all the money she owned taken from her account. As it goes she has been great about it and has now been assured by the bank that her funds will be returned as at no point did she give financial plus permission to take such amounts. So our story is probably a success but now that f/ p have got my back up by ignoring all emails and not addressing the problem in a responsible manner they wont even return calls as promised! luck has it that every call I have made has been recorded and will now strengthen my case and hers if this matter has to go to court ,A thing we never intended to do and have never done but we will not be ignored any more.

Yes I told the manager Deb, and also emailed this to them prior to phoning as instructed .All this of course was recorded by the time and date stamped emails followed by the time and date recorded calls.

Isn't that what Insurance is for?
Leaving aside all the missold issues, you could take out PPI insurance to cover you if you cannot meet your repayments.
It's a bit like not insuring your car..... "well how was I to know I was going to crash it? I have never crashed in the last 20yrs"
Good luck in your crusade anyway.Beware of imitations e.g. Robert Sterling0 -
I first came across FP a few months ago. They had opened a payday loan shop in Glasgow and I needed a small amount to tide me over. By coincidence the owner was in the shop when I went in and chatted away to me. I explained that I had built up a few bad debts over University and now that I was working full time in a good job I hoped to rebuild my credit history.
He suggested I take out an instalment loan with FP. I knew the interest rates were awful but I could afford the monthly payments and it was helping repair my credit rating.
I took an inital loan of 1200. Every month, without fail, the payment was made with no problems.
Then mid July I received a call to say they had identified me as a good customer, payments always on time blah blah blah, and they wanted to offer me a new loan of 5K at better interest rates.
To qualify I had to pay off the total amount of my existing loan (1300). I did this on my payday, virtually emptying my account in one fell swoop.
All day I chased the guy I was dealing with, but he always seemed to be in meetings, and when he did find time to e mail me, told me everything was fine and loan was going ahead.
Finally at 4.30, a receptionist (!!!) told me I was not getting the loan (and I have to mention she was the rudest person I have EVER dealt with in any company). I demanded to speak to a manager and she refused. Told me they had 'changed their criteria' and, as I had £146 in arrears on my credit card and a one off payday loan with their competitor they had refused me. Not only for the 5K but for any loan!! This has pushed me from 'on the way up' financially to the brink of disaster. Unable to pay rent, council tax, electricity/gas and not even enough to get to work for the rest of the month.
All this despite the fact that the payments for the new loan were £2 a month LESS than the previous payments which had all been paid on time.
THESE PEOPLE ARE UNSCRUPULOUS - THEY ARE LIKE THE ROBBER BARONS OF FEUDAL TIMES. TRUST THEM AT YOUR PERIL!!!!0 -
Were you just taking the loan they offered for no other reason than the fact they offered it to you?0

I have been with Financial Plus for a couple of years. I initialy got a loan for £500 then a top up loan for 750. I really needed the money. I was made bankrupt a couple of years prior to that and couldnt and still cannot get an overdraft or a bank loan.
A few weeks ago I was offered a loan of up to £5000 on the condition that I cleared my existing loan of 600. I do not blame anyone except myself. I had doubts about this loan from the start. I was not offered a contract but the verbal agreement and a letter saying that I had agreed to clearing my existing loan then this loan would go into my account 4 hours later. I suspected something but still went ahead.
They cleared £600 and the next day I phoned and I was declined. I was very polite to the person but said maybe they should stipulate that they were offering under certain conditions. Getting annoyed and shouting would not get me anywhere. Why did they offer then decline. They cleared my account but I do have someone who will give me the 600 for me.
On a positive note I now dont owe them anything and I did say to the girl in Financial Plus that now they are not getting my interest and I will not be a customer.
I dont think we have any legal redress, but it would be good if they said they would offer a customer a loan under certain conditions. I mean surely they have looked at the account before hand.0 -
Hi, if you are employed by Financial Plus I'd like to discuss a payment being taken from my account without permission. I would appreciate if you could private message me regarding this as I have not had any luck via phone calls to the main customer services number. Thanks.0
