new phone, IPHONE or HTC hero??

Clearly it depends what you're looking for but the HTC hero is by far the better phone.
The advantages of the iphone are mainly the 'status' it gives you, plus its a little easier to use from the beginning but is very restrictive in the way you can use it.
The hero can do everything the iphone can do and a hell of a lot more besides. Because of this it can take a little time setting it up the way you want.
I'd definitely go for the hero!
think im set on the htc phone thats out next year, ive no experience of an iphone so an iphone apps or status doesn't really matter to me,0 -
The lag markymoo mentions, probably refers to the Hero's previous software version.
I bought a phone, upgraded it to the latest available version of 1.5 which is what it runs, and it was still a lot slower browsing the internet than my iPhone 3GS.
*double checks*
Yeah, i didn't use the word lag, or blame anything else, I just stated the that the browsing was slower than my iPhone...

Have you tried using a different browser? I've just started using Dolphin (free via the marketplace) and it does seem faster than the normal browser - don't know how that compares to your iphone though.0 -
The other thing to ba aware of is the data allowance on the, er, "unlimited" internet. Orange restrict you to 500mb a month and then charge. T-mobile have a soft limit of 3gb a month - if you hit it they just slow your connection down until the next month's allowance kicks in.
Might be more of an issue if / when htc update the software and you can use google maps as a turn by turn sat nav.0 -
Htc Hero is awesome, multi tasking plus more control on your phone compare to iphone..0

kinda scary how alike you are in my experience with the phones as also in the dilemma deciding between the iphone and htc hero, but also have at the minute the K850i WHICH has been exchanged on 4 occasions too!! does this fault where the screen just flashes and then its down hill from there.Colliewobble wrote: »Hi,
Really interested to hear everyone's thoughts on this as I tried the HTC in a shop and was quietly impressed. My current phone is a truly awful Sony K850i which has been returned to Orange on no less than four occasions. I want something reliable too!

Personally if i get offered that HTC HERO offer you got i would go for that, sounds a great deal!! was that an 18 month of 24 month?0 -
Get an HTC HD2, that's the only phone I would swap my iPhone for.. if I had to.A problem shared is a problem multiplied.

Had my iPhone almost 18 months now (3G version). The only thing I'd ever change it for now would be the 3Gs but am now going to wait til June/July to see what Apple are going to pull out of the hat for a 4th generation iPhone. I just wouldn't touch anything else (a personal preference of course).0

I've had my Hero for a week on Orange and I love it. One good thing over the iPhone is the camera being 5mp as opposed to the 3mp of the iphone, I felt the the iphone wasn't worth the extra dolla as I'm used to the awesome 5mp camera on my n95 8GB.0
