o2 bb problems

barjam,if you've got noise on the line (hissing/crackling) then this is almost certainly the root of your problem. Stop blaming O2, it's nothing to do with them, you need to speak to your line rental provider.
Have you tried dialling 17070, then option 2, quiet line test? Listen for noise on that. If it's there, report noise on the line, difficulty hearing callers etc. Do not mention any problems with your broadband, as otherwise they will try to refer you back to O2.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

I currently have the above stats on a netgear DG834GT router on O2 BB.
It does resynch at higher speeds so this is a lowest point IYSWIM
I think i have noise, technical issues. Even with two filters on the phone line, there is still some hissing and its a normal corded phone.
I need to work on it.
According to charts/distance etc i should be able to achieve at least 4 to 5 Mb
Does this look noisy?
DMT tool is currently showing SNR peaks as high as late 40s/nudging on 50 db
As your stats indicate you do have a problem I'd advise you to start your own thread.0 -

i knew there was something wrong as mine looked nothing like yours i've tried again after i click view more the only thing that comes up is what i pasted earlier there is nothing on top right that says details etc..
all it says is this across the top

macman i never mentioned noise o2 did i dont have any hissing or crackling they said something about upping the noise level, they cant see any evidence of disconnecting they mentioned it could be a wireless issue but my pc is not wireless and it happens at the same time as laptops ,they r going to to a 24 test on the line i'd rather it be the line i dont want to leave o2
just done a quiet line test there's no hissing or crackling0 -
Why don't you run the BT quiet test anyway? You've tried everything else. It will take you about 15 seconds.
Line faults do not necessarily produce noise, but it's a strong clue.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
i did:o then edited my post prob same time u were posting
also found the details section that kwikbreaks mentioned but the only extra info it gives is my isp address0 -
Did you login as SuperUser ?
What O2 were probably suggesting doing was increasing your target noise margin. That will reduce your speed a little and if you are not losing sync (which they say you are not) won't fix anything.
Is anybody using p2p? If so get the number of connections on the client reduced as that sometimes screws up routers. It can most certainly saturate the upstream and slow everything down to a crawl. There should be settings for that too.

Oh yes - and while you are looking in the router check that the wireless is either off or properly secured with WPA encryption.0 -
I have sent you pm with links (was not sure to post link on here)
This is not my job just a Googled fix that I found.
Hope this helps it worked for me.0 -

As your stats indicate you do have a problem I'd advise you to start your own thread.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -
