I would tout it as something all Mums like to do for GK's......buy their first "real" shoes;)
My mum took huge delight in buying DS1's shoes. I always had properly fitted shoes as a child even though she really struggled to make ends meet when I was little. Therefore she loved going to a shoe shop with us and choosing the best fitting shoes DS1 liked without having to worry about the price tag.
I feel really strongly about shoes, too, and DS2 usually only has two pairs (school shoes and trainers), but they are always 'proper' ones, even though DH goes on about getting them cheaper elsewhere. I hope I'm passing my views on to both DSs0 -
DW emptied and stuff put away. Need to try to persuade the stove to light and keep lit... I want it to keep going all day, but I'm not doing very well with the smokeless fuel  I can't work out whether it needs more or less of it in there...
I'll do some baking this morning, then I'm out this afternoon for the baby shower (hopefully they'll like the cake... I'll post photos when I get back). I'll have to get the tree out of the car later today, but probably won't put it up straight away as I need to get a stand and some lights tomorrow...
Suppose I'd better get dressed and get the cake in the oven as it takes ages, then I can start playing around with the biscuits!0 -
Morning all
Haven't really been doing much. Have a grotty cold and lots of running around re school plays etc but am going to try and get the house done next week then have a few days 'free' when XH has the children. That is going to be the plan anyway.
While doing a search noticed that Smartie had passed her BSL Level 1. Well done on passing. It is me that who is also doing it and am loving it. It is so interesting. Well I had my exam last Tuesday but ours get sent to Durham Universersity so we won't know if we have passed for about 6-8 weeks :eeks:January Grocery 11/3740 -
Morning all :hello:
I'd written a post last night but lost it, and then my internet connection played up and I gave up. Went in the bath instead to soak the paint off.
I finished as much of the decorating as I could yesterday! :T:T:T
DS1's room is painted apart from a small bit I couldn't reach above the stairwell - think I need a very sturdy plank from somewhere. I also need to do the walls at the bottom of the loft stairs , but that's not as urgent and a lot less fiddly than the loft itself.
He also decided that he wanted his furniture differently, so I had a go at moving things around while he was out at a concert. His idea didn't quite work and I hope he's pleased with my solution. We still need to get him some more storage furniture, though, so he can tidy up properly. Sounds like a good reason to nip to Ikea soon. If I didn't have to work tomorrow I could concentrate on DS1's room for the rest of today, but I can't afford to spend anymore time on it this weekend.
Plan for today:
Eat breakfast
decide what I want DSs to tidy while I'm out
Go shopping (by myself) when DS1 comes back from his sleepover (he's late
take birthday card and present to friend's DH
lots more washing and drying
put clothes away so I've got an empty basket to collect ironing for DH to do on Tuesday
get clothes ready for tomorrow
make sausage casserole
buy 64 toilet rolls for snowman making at school (don't ask)
amazon order (MUST DO THIS TODAY)
spend 15 minutes each in kitchen, living room and bathroom, so they are usable
school stuff
Best get going then...
See you all later. Have a good Sunday. x0 -
Morning all
Today I will be mainly decking the halls with bails of holly :jdusty.. vouchers received.. thank you xxx.. DS1 was upset .. they had gone to buy shopping with the healthy start vouchers not realising they were expired.. so he ended up taking them to tesco.. I didn't think you would mind.. and he was desperate.
Question..
If someone had offered to buy one of your childrens shoes.. not one shoe but one child.. BUT they would be proper fitted measured shoes would you have accepted? Or just been plain insulted?
I wanted to offer to get Jacobs shoes.. he will get cheapy crappy bad for the feet but look 'fashionable' junk shoes.. I would be slightly more polite in my offer but DS1 knows how I feel about shoes lol
Sweetie I'm just glad they got used and not binned. Could you go down the shoe route of the 'problems' his cousins have and as these things are often genetic for now it is best to err on the side of caution or else he'll never play for Hull City.
Right off to the shower and then to do the ref drop, put petrol in the car and do the recycling. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -

I am going to go to Next Sale and buy their gifts and perhaps get a full outfit sale price as apposed to half an outfit at full price. Now that makes sense to me or am i just being tight?
It makes perfect sense.. they will think you are loaded buying a whole outfit from Next lol.. I get all next years clothes in this years sales.. and often a coat or 2 too. A whole outfit is certainly better than half!
Thanks all re the shoe thing. My mother bought the first shoes for a few of mine.Jacob can probably manage a little longer without shoes. His mummy's feet are horrid due to being crammed in hideous shoes from an early age so if I can avoid that with Jacobs trotters I would like to.. My small pinks were complimented on their pretty undamaged feet by the podiatrist and the physio and the only suggestion was they had ankle foot to support their floppy ankles rather than shoes.
I'll speak to DS1 tomorrow.
My mother is after dragging me off to Boots to do some christmas shopping today.. I have a £10 voucher I can spend in here and £40 in points.. but then she will want to do Matalan, Asda and I'll want a peep in Brantanos see if I canpick up some boots for Tiddles.
Best shift my carcass from the bed and clean a room.. I am aiming to get the back room done.. I have a book shelf in the middle of the room which I want in an alcove.. and the books from off the table so I can get a christmas display on it.
One of my mad old fat cats came and pee'd in my bedroom last night.. so I chased him until I caught him, rubbed his snout in it and kicked him up the derriere.. bloody dirty thing.. he is 10 and knows MUCH better!!
