    Hi,

My HHC didn't go to plan my DSD2 phoned and said what she'd asked me to order her for Christmas wasn't what she thought it was. Luckily i only ordered it last night and was able to cancel it and order what she did want. I'm not even dressed yet.

HHC at 11.00 anyone? I can get dressed then during it.

    source marzipan and icing

Dustykitten - I hunted everywhere for marzipan (making marzipan fruits from my nan) I found it in Asda. They do there own value stuff for about 70p, or a slightly better one for £1.50 ish. The slightly better one is actually better value for money (its 500g instead of 250g)

They do a load of royal icing too.

But that reminds me, I must make a list of what baking essentials I need in! Having Xmas dinner at my mum and dads but I have to buy or bake the dessert!
I'm thinking either; chocolate truffle cake or devils food cake?

    Must buy cake tins!

    Morning all,

good news is I've made enough on ebay to completely pay off another credit card...:j. I haven't done it yet as have to transfer paypal money into bank and then pay it off but the money is there.:D

That means that when this is paid off I have just 1 credit card with the biggie debt on it. The money transferred into my bank for a car can sit there for a while or be transferred into an account where it can earn some interest.

I'm quite determined re the debt busting, I just want to get on the straight and narrow again.

    Todays listy for me

wrap and post other ebay items

    list more stuff

    Start wrapping pressies

Both grls are doing the tree and the decorations tonight, I may try to be 'christmassy' and bake something with cinamon in to assist...love cinamon.

House is in an awful mess, hoover doesn't sound healthy either so will ask OH to see if he can sort it.

Tried to reply earlier but computer has automatic updates set to run for Sat mornings !!!!!! - I'm usually at work all week why does DH set them then.

Anyhow still sat in dressing gown as didnt get up til nearly 10 and going for a bath in a min

Boddy - I'm disgusted by the attitude of the home manager. I would suggest they either find the original or you report it to the police as stolen. As for buy a replacement we'll pay does not solve the issue as there is either carelessness or theft somewhere and they cant replace the sentiment attached to it.
soappie - thanks for the hug but I'm ok really
msgnomey - 42 children! how did you get them all home :rotfl:
rosepink - the cannula was for IV iron infusions that I'm having twice a week for my anaemia
frodders - prayers and healing vibes for little Maddy
holly - I was like that when I got the kids a Wii last year and I got it in October, the urge to play was ridiculous
Piggers - well done on beating XH and as for not being able to have any money for the house or children, I really hope he has a shock coming to him. There is a calculator somewhere where you go on input the details and work out what he should be paying ;)
valli - BOTH trees, I did last year
zoe - glad your babys back
lilme - hope you all get over the colds soon
juliejim - sorry to hear about your grandad
embb - say hi to Joe next time you see him for us :rotfl:
Mortgage, we're getting there with the end in sight £6587 07/23, otherwise free of the debt thanks to MSE help!
  • frodders I will pray for Maddy to come through her illness safely.

jinky make him lick it up???!!!! Can you hoover it, as a more humane alternative?

greenbee lol! Now I have bookshelve, and they are in the right place. Snow joke, though, My parents had builders in once and came home from work to find them blocking up the wrong doorway!

Buy the best marzipan you can find, as some of it taste grim. Alternatively, if you have a food processor, making your own is probably cheaper and tastes nicer. This recipe looks good as it gives ideas for flavouring it. If you can't face that, ask around and get a recommendation for shop bought!

As for the icing, easiest thing is to buy the icing sugar labelled as royal icing. Make sure you make it nice and thick, and don't aim for a smooth finish if you're not practised at it, go for a nice rough snow field!

If you're trying sugarpaste/fondant buy either regalice or Dr Oetekers... the tesco stuff used to be good but they've changed the recipe and it's vile now. Any other questions, shout - there are lots of cake decorators on this thread to help!

Congratulations! Is the house looking tidier as a result too??

Been to the post office (cards sent to France) and village shop - no liquorice, so I may have to brave either Sainsbury's or Waitrose later today (very late... after children are in bed late...) or spend time making things to replace them with.

I also want to make a large orange cake for Christmas and some snowflake and star biscuits - all of which I can freeze. But I really do need to get the house clean before I start doing any more mess-making! There is so much junk on the sofa that there is nowhere to sit in the living room :o
