Seller won't send item until 10 days from auction due to cleared funds?

I think you're going to have to accept that they aren't going to send you this item for 10 days - you can't force them to, unfortunately. I would pay them but send them a message saying that if the item isn't despatched as per Paypal terms then you will be opening a dispute as they misled you with their listing. If this does not deter them I would leave them negative feedback - warning other buyers what to expect from this numbskull.
On no account pay them by BACS though - even if they are honest they don't deserve to get their own way by effectively holding you to ransom until you pay by BACS.0 -
10 days is enough to receive the cash, deposit it, close the account and move on.
With terms like that, I wouldn't touch him with a 10ft barge pole.
Call it a day and try again dude.0 -
I'm just reticent to send £520 to someone who is this much of PITA, even by PaypalCelticStar wrote: »I think you're going to have to accept that they aren't going to send you this item for 10 days - you can't force them to, unfortunately. I'd leave it, I would'nt trust him one bit, what would happen if the item was lost or damaged in the post? He's removed his funds by that point, and ok while paypal will now cover you for that, its still not a very professional thing to do as a seller.Did you know you can get Viagra software now??? Yeah, it turns your floppy drive into a hard drive

My response - how does it sound, I haven't sent it just yet:
Hi,
You are effectively refusing to accept Paypal by making your condition of waiting 10 days a deterrent. I repeat that I am unwilling to send the money via BACS as I have no recourse if something goes wrong. I will not be held to ransom. You ask me to accept your honesty yet cajole me at the end of your email by stating 'I didn't have to tell you 10 days'. You say I am making a mountain out of this, yet you are not complying with Ebay or Paypal rules - as a buyer I am bound to raise issue with that! I have no faith in you as a seller any longer and I will not be making payment and will be advising Ebay of the reasons why. It is a shame as it is a beautiful instrument.

I'd still pay with Paypal, then open up a dispute if it hasn't arrived in 10 days.
It's obviously someone who doesn't understand ebay, but the item might be great, so a shame to lose out.
If they mess you around a lot, then leave them negative feedback.
It's your choice not to pay for it, but they will then realise they're going to lose a HUGE amount of money in fees, so you will end up with a strike. Ebay won't care...Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
i would pay, then hit the dispute if needed
followed with a neg of course
they can enjoy paying the fee's for their non sale0 -
If you paid today and he withdrew it tomorrow,it would reach his account by thursday so not sure where he gets 10 days from?
However, as said 10 days is allowing enough time to disappear- whats his feedback like?
tbh with his attitide I would be tempted to take a strike on this and try and find it elsewhere.
Good luck and do keep us upated.0 -
I've now paid, as I'm fully protected by paypal and REALLY wanted the item. The seller has thanked me and told me he'll get it to me by next weekend providing the payment clears ok. What an odd world.0
