    Good morning guys,

Santa looks like he means business today :rotfl::rotfl:

    santa3.jpg

Not a lot on today, the weather is nice although cold Brrrrr.

Lunch will be nice and easy - beans on toast - and tea will be roast chicken with all the trimmings. I will make some chocolate cake while the oven is on and a cheese, tomato, onion and bacon quiche for tomorrow I think. I will cook some extra veggies today and then use them tomorrow with the quiche.

The house is tidy, all ironing done, I will wash the kitchen units down while I am in there this afternoon and sort out the lunchbags for tomorrow.

    Otherwise a lazy day I think. :D

Bargainbird - another one here, I only have the kids but some days I feel like a non stop nag and they have all been taught to tidy up from a young age. You wouldn't think so though

Hugs to all who need one today and I hope you have a great Sunday. xxx

    Morning all :hello:

Bit of a wet one here, this morning, although the rain has finally stopped. It really came down heavy in the night and my kitchen ceiling has taken a beating. They can't repair it yet though as an asbestos sample was taken, and they may have to remove the whole ceiling

DDs are out for a few hours today, so I'm going to start wrapping. They want to get the tree up later, so I will get dinner on the go, then we can sort out all the decorations when they get back.

Dinner today is chicken cacciatore. I've not made it before but it sounds

Hope you all enjoy your day, whatever you're doing.

(((HUGS)))) to those in need :)

Fingers crossed for Tris and hope Hester's DH gets the job and that tru is not too uncomfortable after the meal.

DD(20) got back from university yesterday and will be home for four weeks!:j

Made her a fruit loaf in the bread machine as she really fancied some and it turned out really well.

DD was looking for her bedding in the airing cupboard and in the process she and her sisters tidied up and sorted the whole cupboard out for me. I had been dreading trying to sort it out all by myself so very pleased.

DH and DDs have decided they are doing the cooking today so i am staying out of the way with a tray of tea and the laptop. Joint of lamb is in the slowcooker and DH will probably make a huge oven tray single Yorkshire pud.

Managed to make myself scrambled egg for breakfast as that fits in with new eating plan and ordered each DD a pair of slippers online to go with other pressies for Christmas.

Good morning everyone, Oh! it's not morning any more. Took ds to Liverpool for orchestra rehearsal and then stoppped at Lidl and Aldi on the way home. Got a set of icicle style lights to go round the big window of the 'new' extension. DH will sort those out next weekend.

DH is still grumpy following illness and days off at the beginning of the week. COld and cough have left him tired. He also has hurt his back lifting boxes of music etc at Youth Orchestra yesterday morning. Being the hero (Hmm you know men!) that he is, he insisted on following through with his stage managing duties last night and is now continuing grouting tiles in the spare room ensuite. He'll want to stop for lunch soon any way.

I didn't have much real shopping to do so got a load of boxes of juice and some lemonade ready for when the family visit. I decided to limit choice in the interests of economy, though big extras like this don't tend to go on the food budget. I forgot to get yoghurts so will make some chocolate pudding (aka Humber Mud/Mersey Mud or whatever) Easy and cheap. WILl make with some powdered milk I think.

Have taken to freezing half of the milk when getting it from Aldi. Does anyone else find theirs is shorter dated and goes off by the date sometimes? Just wondering. Shuffled the freezer round a bit more. Things will ease once the stuff is out for the Morris Dancers Lunch, but rather chocka. I keep having more ideas about what to do and stuff I've forgotten.

I seem to have rather a lot to do, but with the SAD and Winter Brain I find my concentration is poor, so trying to concentrate on one thing at once. Going to sew seat covers again today, though laundry will need to be done so that DS has fresh undies ! Later maybe. WIll do half an hour sewing before lunch.

Lunch of HM soup out of the freezer and dinner is a sort of sausage and bean casserole thingy I bodged together last weekend. Low effort day. :T

    Enjoy your day peeps.

Wow some of you are early birds and you all put me to shame with all your baking :o Had to wake DD up today at 11

I have put a sausage casserole in the SC today (basically chucked everything in there!)
OS - washed up rather than use DW but it will be on later after tea.
WM will be on later for bedsheets (after I can be bothered to empty last nights wash)
We are walking to the supermarket although it might not be a good idea with the amount I need to get (might change my mind )

Also going to 99p store to get some xmas lights and pot pourri and will look for a glass vase and some ribbon to make a crafty present for my mum.

Have found some cookie cutters in the cupboard and amazingly there is an angel, a bell, a star and circles so they will be perfect for the salt dough we will do eventually (didnt have enough salt yesterday)

    Have a happy day :D

    Hi,
Im feeling very "off" today. Perhaps I overdid it yesterday but I have had two blackouts this morning and feel really wierd, My kids dad is very concerned so think i might need to see doctor tomorrow. So a day that had a list to complete has turned into a day of nothingness!. I still have not decorated my christmas tree yet.:( However I did buy a few presents yesterday so feel that was a small step forward.

Bitsy - I picked up Mens Health to read in the checkout at M&S and promptly put it back when I paid. I have to say I really enjoyed reading the article - an inspiration. Hopefully hubby is feeling brighter now and your littleone is feeling ok?

Bargainbird - I totally understand where you come from. Its time to retreat and that sounds what you did last night.

I really enjoyed reading the early morning posts - lots of talk of vodka.

Well need to go and nag my kids into submission. I have asked them nicely to tidy and dust their bedrooms but i cant hear much commotion going on!

    Have a restful Sunday,
    Mollyx
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.

I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.

    Afternoon all

Went to works Christmas Party last night Was a really nice place but the food was lousy It tasted as though it had been made hours before then microwaved! Rubbery sprouts and goodness knows how really rubbery turkey and stuffing:eek: They must have known it was bad as after we complained they gave us 6 free bottles of wine to try to compensate!:D Ended up bringing one home as there was still 4 unopened on the table by the end of the night (god bless screw tops - meant they didn't have to uncork them when they gave us them!!)

So was rather delicate this morning as I am not used to drinking much nowadays.
Still was up early at 6.30 and when rain eased off went to the Farmers market for a wander round - Got some lovely Buffalo meat sausages! (really tasty and low fat!) picked up some lovely cheeses too, chedder and port wine flavour, and a couple of others but I forget which at the moment
Sc is on with a huge pot of braised red cabbage (delia online recipe) so I can get some into the freezer as I just love red cabbage:D
Loads of mincepies cooked yest which I will now freeze too.
Just had a chicken casserole for lunch with yorkshire puds (all from freezer as I knew I would not feel like cooking today after drinking last night)

((((Hugs)))) to all who need or want them. Sorry but brain is unable to retain individual news today, so please excuse me!:rotfl:

    Have a good sunday all

    Hi everyone,

Essex girl, the sausage roll thread is here My recipe, with pics is here
zippy, lovely to see you starting the thread. Your post is so cheerful! Good luck with the job hunting. x
    Nopot2pin and Pammy, welcome! :hello:
tru, great to see you posting carols again this year...Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without them. :A
Bitsy, I hope your ds is feeling a bit better.
Haribo, I hope you aren't wearing Dad and stepmum out! :D
Ruby, any news on the move?
Cranky, still thinking of you and ds. xx

Long time no see...I've got out of the habit of posting on the daily. :o It's been quite an Old Style weekend here. I've been furiously trying to catch up with flylady and batch cooking for the freezer. Three family sized portions of chilli are cooling now ready to go into the freezer and beef in mustard, black pepper and cream sauce is simmering away in the slow cooker. Our oven has died so Mr Pink is taking it out and is measuring up for a new one as we speak. Hopefully that will be here before Christmas. I know there are some Old Stylers who don't rate slow cookers but mine has been a godsend in the last week or so.

We got news on Friday that poor MIL had a bad fall and is in hospital with a fractured skull and ribs. It's at times like this that the distance is a pain because we can't get there easily, but we both spoke to her today and she sounds a bit brighter and less confused. MIL and FIL were meant to be coming to stay with us next weekend but obviously that's a bit up in the air at the moment, although she is quite determined that if she is discharged from hospital and is fit to fly they will still come. So I have odds and ends of shopping to finish for the nieces and nephews presents to send back with them if they do manage to make it over.

Right better go and light the fire and chase the boys into sorting out their drawers in prep for Christmas. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday.

    Afternoon everyone

I am really not having a good weekend made pizza dough yesterday and thought it looked a bit iffy, just before it was time to make the pizzas noticed the yeast still sitting on the worktop. Made some mince pies today, used the same pastry recipie as last year, the hairy bikers one with orange juice and they were horrible, the pastry could have sunk a ship, OH did eat one, but the rest have gone in the bin.

Oh well, onwards and upwards, have hung my xmas tree bunting that I made and am very pleased with it, got the idea from Laura Ashley, thanks :D, but mine was a lot cheaper. Also have got the tree up, we got one of those with the lights attached in the sale at Wilkos in Jan and am very pleased with it. Have also done some crochet, have made some wrist warmers/fingerless gloves and am going to make a hat to match, will then probably do another of those twirly scarfs (pattern on the knit your square thread) seem to have become a bit addicted to making them.

OH is in the kitchen preparing tea, he's put the chicken in and is now doing the veg, after all these years I still feel guilty when he does it, when I was married it was my job and that was it! OH is soooooo different, he even did the shopping yesterday so I could get on with crafty stuff, love him awww :rotfl:

Hope you all had a good day

    Jak xx
