OS Daily Thread - Sunday 6th December (19 days to go)

Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Friday 4th December. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.
Hi all. This is my first ever time starting the daily thread. I am awake so thought why not! :rotfl: It's quite exciting.! :j:j:j
Well I had a lazy day but made myself do some work in the end. I tidied away the endless piles of washing (how can one person create so much?), stripped, aired and made my bed. Tidied my room. Cleared some stuff. Made my Mum a wheaten loaf. She is calling tomorrow for lunch after work. I bought some Christmas Presents online, and had them delivered to her house as it's a pain if I have to go collect the parcel! So she is bringing them tomorrow, and has already text me asking if I have kept her some carrot cake :rotfl:She will also probably bring me loads of candles, such as egg nog. She is a habitual Yankee candle collector:p She is also bringing me a bag of stuff to take to the local womens hostel. She asked me to donate to Barnardos for her for christmas instead of a pressie and I suggested the hostel. But now she is doing both, so I have to find out some stuff to add to that :T
I have decided tomorrow I am going to put some things on freecycle and get some stuff done. I hope to put up my tv as I got a new one off freecycle last week. Also a pile of magazines, and maybe a Guitar shaped cd holder. Some other stuff.I need to stop hoarding!
It's like an illness. he he. I also want to buy vodka to make Skittles vodka for best friend for Christmas :j
My friend came over to put my Leon picture up . I got the pic off Freecycle, and the drill so at least both were put to good use by someone! It went in place of a poster I had up, so I put the poster upstairs in the landing.
This one....

I remember reading an urban legend about the man on the very right ..... Do we believe?
My "breakfast" at 5pm of eggs bacon and wheaten filled me up, so no dinner for me. Only home made garlic dip and breadsticks , along with some cheesy films!
I had a lovely luxurious bath, philosophy body scrub, facial, moisturise, scrub, face mask etc. Then curled up on the sofa with a blanket and a HWB and watched the film on four, then a tacky chick flick on E4. I am still awake as I think I have passed the point of sleep.
I'll think of what more I have to say.....:o
My brother is poor for food at the moment andI am trying to convince him to take an interest in cooking. He is a great food receptacle and loves coming here for grub, I just don't think he has the interest to cook it himself (or more the knowledge and tools to be honest). I said to buy a load of stuff and bring it here, and I will cook it all up. I offered him tomorrow but I don't think he can make it.
I have a job interview on Monday. I worked out I have 10 working days left in my job, then I have nothing. Don't know whether to stop looking and start again in January and relax for now, or keep at it. I mean, I have a mortgage to pay (although I am lucky enough to be getting redundancy)
Hope you all have a lovely festive Sunday. Get wrapping those presents. Get playing those christmas songs . Hugs and peace to everyone.:D
Love Laura xxxxx
WOOOOOO!

Hi nottopin! Oh, it's even more exciting getting a reply ! Good for you posting. Why don't you? You totally should. I don't usually but I spend so much time here, I figured it's silly not to. It's like a home grown soap opera.
You are absolutely right - it's the green makes it look like sludge. I read about it on here for ages, then did a bottle for my birthday. Brilliant stuff!
Totally chuffed you posted. Thanks! xxxx :A

Morning OS friends.
Christmas QOTD: Never worry about the size of your Christmas tree. In the eyes of children, they are all 30 feet tall. ~ Larry WildePammy and Nopot2pin! - good to have you with us.
redruby -I so hope your rotten cold gets better soon hon. I also loved Gino too and really wanted him to win but I didn't mind Kim coming second as she made me laugh. And my patio is like yours - hundreds of big pots and I haven't been able to clear them all yet.
SunnyGirl - you are welcome for dinner any time hon, though I may be nipping round to sistercas' place for some of her spare gammon!
Heavenleigh -for you honey, hope you had a nicer evening than you were imagining. And we often buy a pizza base if they are on offer and then make our own toppings.
Tru and Essex-girl - I am with you both on the wedding thing, unless it's someone I really love, I really find them boring.
Zippy - I have an artificial green tree but I always have a theme.. Just makes life easier. And your oranges and cloves should smell nice already. I am a bit an*lly retentive with things like that too, my pin cushion has all the same coloured pins grouped together in spirals!
Bargain - Sorry you feel so overwhelmed hon.I think that is just 'life' and the way it pans out sometimes but you will get through it, you are a strong lady.
Bitsy - hope your son feels better today and that it isn't swine flu.
Later start for me today - I had a lie in til 0445!! I spoke to Tristans' sister about ten mins ago and she said he is struggling to stay conscious for more than 10 or 15 mins and they are trying to get energy drinks down him. He has an IV but he needs to put weight on. I passed on all the good wishes etc from here to her. His wife and kids should be home tomorrow so that will perk him up.I have put the WM on - mostly towels. As long as it isn't raining they will go out on the line for a few hours before coming in on the airer. Will cook our no knead bread later on, after dinner so it's ready for tomorrows sandwiches.
Brunch today will be bacon sandwiches on shop bought white bread (has to be, according to my OH!!) and we are roasting one of the half price Free range Tesco chickens for dinner.
Edit: Zippy - Well done on starting the thread, it was really fun and upbeat! Hope you have a good time with your mum today. I love Yankee Candles too. Sleep well honey, staying up til 0500 is never really a good idea except maybe on a Saturday night!! :rotfl:
I hope everyone has a warm, relaxing Sunday. To anyone feeling under the weather - get well soon. With love and light for all.

Good morning all,
Slight insomnia here been up since 2am. Have had the beef in the slow cooker since 3.30 and am going to prepare the veg in a minute.
Am taking the baby to soft play this morning and plan on doing some baking this afternoon along with trying to sort out my first ever meal plan for the week (wish me luck on that front)
Zippy, I keep meaning to look into freecycle, seems you have gotten some great things off of there, i'll put it into my plan of action for things to do today. Good luck For Monday i hope the interview goes well xx
Hi to Nopot, dont be a stranger in here :0)
Well it looks like we are the only nutters up at this time on a Sunday morning so i'll pop in later when the 'normal' folks are awake lol
I will save my tesco £1 savings stamps this year! .......so far = £50 (full card#1)
Card #2 £6. I will not be skint at Chistmas this year!
Total £560 -

Sorry zippy... this reminded me of an event that occured in my youth
That may only be understood by Scottish or Irish... apologies if so
I worked in an offsales, when I was 18...
An older gentleman came in and asked for a bottle of "Rich White"...
I thought he was asking for "white lemonade" ( just normal lemonade to everyone.. not the cloudy stuff... just normal lemonade )
Anyway... I duly put a glass bottle of Barrs white lemonade on the counter ...
The look on his face was priceless.... as he was expecting a bottle of Eldorado Tonic White Wine (I think is akin to Buckfast now):rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Luckily he saw the funny side... but its amazing what triggers such memorys :T:rotfl::rotfl::o
Thanks to Diva and Heavenleigh for the welcome...
Good Morning to you both0 -
Hi Heavenleigh hon - wow.. this is busier than the thread is when I start it on a week day!! :rotfl::rotfl: Sorry to hear you haven't been sleeping well, and hope that improves for you. We use freecycle a lot down here too, both to pass things on and pick things up, it's a good service.

Must be a night/morning for cooking ... :T
I have started a pot of lentil soup, which is almost done now...
And I think I will use up the apples/plums in a crumble0
