My debt free journey

Welll one good thing happens then one bad.
we got told today we've got to move out by August. Sooooo my plan to pay off CC has gone to pot, need to save for the move. About £3000 should be enough, but it means being poor all the time again because we'll have rent and bills once moore.
Not even sure we can really afford it,but no choice, and not entitled to benefits what so ever.

Well - in light of recent findings I have realised that I don't want to lug all my crap on another house move! That and we'll be downsizing from 4 beds to 1 - 2 at the very most! So no more room for all my books, cds, bags etc etc.
Taking advantage of the free listing weekend and am listing my books, bags, clothes and a laptop on ebay. Hopefully i will sell most of them, not bothered by how much they go for, more that I want rid of it all!
We shall see how it goes.
OH has agreed to match what i save for the move so we shall have enough to start seriously thinking about moving in May. I'm going to aim to be in the new house by start of June.
Went to view a house today - it was an odd set up, through the back of a shop, bathroom and kitchen downstairs and 2 reasonable rooms upstairs and 1 box room. totally impractical. so the search continues..Annual Grocery Budget £364.00/£1500

Hi!
Just wanted to pop in and say hello. Have just read your diary all the way through- you are doing really well and seem really good on the meal planning - i'm rubbish at that
Sorry to hear about having to move, hopefully it'll just spur you on to focus more - see it as a challenge and you've just had that pay rise so hopefully that'll balance the outgoings? Perhaps you could post a mini SOA so others can give you some guidance or suggestions?
I'm in same kind of position in that we have just had offer accepted on our first home, however lucky as OH fab with money (no debts) and I have thousands of pounds owing (45k) but working hard at sorting them out and decreasing nicely - I did contact banks etc to get repayment plans and interest stopped or reduced - they did and still are so perhaps if your partners is not managable he could do this now so that you know where you stand when you move etc?
Good luck in your on-going journey - you're doing fab :T

Thanks Karen, we're going to speak to the bank i think about OH's loan payments, he's been burying his head in the sand ever so slightly!
We're going to move to a more reasonably priced property this time round so we aren't stretching ourselves too much - hopefully then we can refocus on getting the CC's paid off!
I'm looking forward to the move now, i need to be in my own space again, house sharing doesn't work for us at all!Annual Grocery Budget £364.00/£1500

Def agree with you there, you can't beat having your own space! Doesn't hurt to speak to the bank, you never know what they can do -nothing to lose by asking!
Hope you find somewhere nice

Agree with Karen here; best of luck house-hunting, but don't overstretch yourself financially! This space for rent

I don't know how to do this, my wage alone can't cover a house and everything to go with it - maybe a studio flat, but we've got a dog so we've not chance of getting one of them.
OH's work is so up and down that i can't rely on him bringing a set amount in per month - except maybe £400.. not alot.
I just don't know how we're going to afford this

Perhaps write a small (rough) budget on here for us to look at including debt repayments for you etc and see if we can't help suggest a few bits?? Keep chin up

Come on Bramble,
Don't be downhearted! There's always a solution. As Karen says, how about doing an updated SOA, and we'll see if we can work something out with you?

Thanks guys, we can get a 1 bed house round here for £650, We're going to save 6 months rent up front and hopefully that will cancel out our credit troubles and also means 6 months of saving towards the next rent installment. So feeling better about things. Saving started yesterday!
I sold 4 books on ebay too so thats £10 extra toward the move!! going to list more stuff over the long weekend too, then anything that doesn't sell i am going to take to a car boot, then donate to charity if i still can't get rid of it!
So now it's a case of save save save.
We're moving to a new area, it's further away from work, but it's cheaper so i will just have to put up with that, i drove there yesterday and it seems really nice, and it would be good to get away from this village to be honest.Annual Grocery Budget £364.00/£1500
