Fine for parking in disabled space

No she wasn't using a blue badge - she does the shopping for several elderly service users, but thanks I will tell her this.Sealed Pot Challenge #817 £50 banked0

as somebody who is disabled and suffers constant chronic pain i think this attitude of "park where you like you dont need a blue badge ignore the rules" is pretty selfish and very sad, the spaces are there for a valid reason even if some muppets abuse the system, we're not all fakes or using grannys blue badge :-( , i would gladly give my parking badge to anyone at all if they would take away the pain with it0

This thread is not about those people who "abuse" the disabled spaces. It's about the private parking companies and the supermarkets who are illegally imposing penalties when they have no right to. They are acting like vigilantes and breaking several laws in the process.
Edit.
As somebody has already pointed out on this forum. The supermarkets are actually breaking the DDA if they say that the disabled spaces are limited to blue badge holders. The DDA states that disabled spaces must be provided in private car-parks, but there is no mention of blue badges in the act. So the supermarkets are actually discriminating against some disabled people. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -
It's all a big scam. You just have an unenforceable invoice - private companies have no powers in law to fine people (not that they will tell you that)
• do not pay
• do not contact them
• ignore their threatening junkmail
• they will give up and go away
See sigs to see the scam in action.0 -

Sorry, i misinterpreted your op, when you said 'i dont think she should have used it' i thought you meant the blue badge, i realise now that you meant the parking bay.:o
But, maybe theres no law that says she cant but it is morally questionable.

But then you'll have people parking in disabled spaces claiming "I am disabled; but am not entitled to a badge".

Two wrongs don't make a right. The supermarket is breaking the DDA by limiting it to blue badge holders. By law it's for any disabled person. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -
Where does it say that? I always got taught that only BB holders can use disabled spaces - else everyone would be parking there claiming to be disabled.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

The DDA requires any operator of a private car park to provide spaces for disabled drivers. What it does not say is that those drivers must be in possession of a blue badge, as this scheme does not apply to private car parks. Direct. Gov. The blue badges only mean something on public roads. In private car parks, the disabled spaces must be made available to anyone who is deemed disabled by the DDA, and that includes people who are not blue badge holders.0
