Fine for parking in disabled space

Hi

My mums friend who is a home help has received a fine for parking in a disabled by in a supermarket. I'm not sure where she stands because she isn't disabled herself, but she goes shopping for service users who are. I personally don't think she should have used it, but my opinions aren't the point!

Does she have to pay the fine? The supermarket have told her to appeal, but I thought from reading this board that the ticket may be unenforceable?

Thanks for any advice :)

For a start it's not a "fine" and secondly disabled (and P&C) spaces have no validity on private land. Please ignore. No laws have been broken.
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?

Do tell your Mum's friend that the registered keeper of the car will probably receive up to six letters, which look 'official' (Debt Collector headed notepaper, pretty colours, scary words in CAPITALS & maybe a payment slip at the bottom...yawn!).

These letters are designed to scare her into paying. She must ignore them all and NOT WORRY AT ALL. She must not ask for 'advice' in Tesco again (LOL!), she must not 'appeal' and in particular she must NOT say to anyone who the driver was.

The letters refer to Court, Bailiffs, CCJs etc. but the truth is that the vast majority of PPCs don't ever take people to Court, it's not worth their while as most people still just pay up I think. But these are all idle threats, they just want money and they get that from the victims who believe the scam and pay up. The PPC will just give up after a few months of letters.

Out of interest, was it Euro Car Parks, or Highview parking, or someone else?

    Just interested, it's not important.

But if it's EuroCarParks, then Alx*27 has attached a really useful pictogram link on his signature, showing which letters the rk will receive before ECP give up. All very useful for people to see what happens and to know when they are near the end of the scam. :D

Aye don't give it another thought.

Your mum's 'friend' [yeah right!!] should be taken outside, put up against a wall and shot.

How dare they park in a disabled spot!!!!

Don't they know these are reserved for little old dears who have a blue badge but don't use it themselves, so lend it to their perfectly fit 25 yr old grandson....saves the little darling from having to walk too far to get his fags and his "2 for £14" lager offer.

Well you learn something new everyday ,didnt know they couldnt enforce them ?
I got a ticket once in Skegness ,i parked in a disabled bay ,all legal and above board as had mum in law in car
came back to a ticket which stated that the blue badge card was the wrong way up ,showing photo side and not the reg disabled number side

Didnt think twice ,mum in law just paid the fine ,60 quid i think

If this was a council or police ticket then it was enforceable.
Only unenforceable if issued by private parking companies.
Have a look at a website called PePipoo, its really interesting.

OP, you need to tell your mums friend that if she parks using the blue badge and is not actually taking the person whos blue badge it is with her then the blue badge can be withdrawn permanently, So the owner/holder will not have it to use legitimately.
She needs to read the T&Cs of use.
