What did vodafone say to you exactly ? I dunno how there saying it can't be done as i've done it, it's easy for them to do. Any network can do it.

Unless its menacing or threatening the police won't get involved, and unless the police are involved then the network won't care.

Unfortunatly the OP gave it to the bloke by choice so theres not much they'll do, the texts are round robins, probably bawd jokes at the most not harassment, just annoying, and no grounds to do anything. It's hardly stawking as suggested as it's not personal either, (it is to the OP but no in the schemem of things)

After saying no for a year most people would get the hint, so not sure the male friend options would make any difference, may put his back up, or may just annoying him enough to keep doing it.

Texting saying he's been reported to the police may help (even if he hasn't) , but again if they keep trying of a year of no's then who knows...

Download a blacklist app to your phone. I've bought one for a few pounds, and its worth it to avoid nuisance calls. I'd been getting some weird international calls, and texts, when I don't ring anybody abroad.

I believe it was a scam. I very stupidly went to ring a missed call back, without realising I was calling abroad, and got charged over a £1 for a few second call.

I have also asked my provider to block International calls from my phone.

go to carphonewarehouse and buy a samsung e1100
    they cost £4.95 + £10 top up

it can block numbers for both sms and calls

the guy will not know you've blocked his number.

all symbian phones (mainly nokia) and blackberrys can also block numbers with an additional app. some motorola phones also block numbers.

Hi, I have a samsung and I know it can block texts, but I thought it couldn't block calls. Can you tell me how to do it, please?

    MENU-SETTINGS-APPLICATION-CALL-ALL CALLS-AUTO REJECT-CREATE

you can block exact numbers or number strings. ie, 0845*******

this is the way to do it on an E1100, may be slightly different on yours.

Only problem is it's done on the phone, not at the source. The OP won't know they are blocked and will keep sending, the phone will just reject them. Once you change phone again then any new ones will continue.

    Hi JennyP,

This must be a very frustrating situation for you and I can imagine it would be a huge inconvenience for you to change your number. Unfortunately there is no way of us blocking all data from this man, however if at any point you change your mind and decide that a number change is the best option, please feel free to contact us via this link -

If I had a pound for the number of times I've done that!!!

the samsung has the option to block texts, also 1 nokia, 2310(basic model) also you can get software from 3rd parties to block texts and calls, but these tend to be for symbian software devices, nokia N series and sony ericson, some are free some charge, try this example link, or google (number blocker) it for yourself to find others, remember data charges from your network if you need to download on the handset, best to connect though a pc.
