Not really about money but how can I stop someone sending me unwanted texts?

Would not recommend a male friend getting involved - you just do not want to know what sort of nutter you are dealing with. The police will deal with it (at least it will get recorded as an incident of crime).

The easiest solution though is to change the phone number even if in short term it might prove a small hassle - its not a great deal.

The problem is you can't force him to delete your number he doesn't have to comply with any DPA laws as far as i am aware, the round robin texts are probably just forward text - select all contacts.

I would not go for the male friend approach, not sure why but i wouldn't i feel it might complicate things rather than make them better. I'm surprised the network didn't offer to block all data from his number. Police approach seems a little extreme but as it was said it would be logged in the system. You could try a simple text asking him to stop sending these 'round robin' texts or a simple why haven't you deleted my number?

Another option could be to ring around the network complaint departments, find out which network it is and get their network rather than your own to stop the text messages.

It isnt a Police matter. The Police deal in things called crimes. They do not run dating agencies or deal with the day to day events of peoples social lives. Unless these txtxs contain direct threats of violence or similar then dont trouble our over worked boys in blue. Simply rply that you no longer want any further txts as you have a boyfriend and find his txts quite annoying and threatening,however you wish him luck in the future.

The police might not care but it might help others who are putting up with that person texting. I call it a form of stalking.

Phone your network carrier and ask them to block everything from that number calls/texts etc - i've had to do this myself (for similar reasons!) and never heard from the person again.

I asked them (Vodafone) and they said they can't do that.

I've done all the other suggestions - asking him politely, pointing out he's going to get nowhere etc. etc.

I don't want to change my number - I work freelance and sometimes get calls for work from people from years back!

Telling him to F*** off does sound appealing but then he'll text snidey remarks about me being unchristian! He did that when I blocked him on the internet dating site!

I am considering the male friend option!

What did vodafone say to you exactly ? I dunno how there saying it can't be done as i've done it, it's easy for them to do. Any network can do it.

On your phone, can you highlight the number and go to something like "options" and block etc that way ? I had a samsung and if i went to the phonebook menu or something like that i could add numbers to block.
