Not really about money but how can I stop someone sending me unwanted texts?
I stupidly gave my number last summer to someone on internet dating. I've used it before and haven't had problems. I know this was silly so please don't tell me off!
He sent a lot of unwanted texts very quickly and I told him that I wasn't impressed by him bothering me so much, that he was too keen, that I therefor didn't want to meet up etc. etc.
Now I get texts from him every few weeks. They are just round robin texts that he's obviously sending to all his mates. It isn't a big deal but it's irritating and I have asked him nicely if he could please delete me and he won't.
It isn't harrassment really as he never says anything threatening so I don't feel I can call the police.
Any ideas?

Even if its harrassment and he fails to stop after your first request, then contact the police (its for your safety) - do not give out any other details about yourself to this person or anyone on net.0

You can block texts coming through on certina phones, I know on my Samsung phone I can. However, if you report this guy and/or inform the police, it might not be a good idea to block them as they will be evidence.0

I can't block from my phone (Sony Ericsson) however I'm thinking of getting an iPhone as they're on a deal at work and I'd actually be saving money over my current contract. Does anyone know if you could block someone through that?
I'd love to tell him to &*%^ off but I don't want to stoop to his level!
Should never have given the number out, but it was on a Christian dating site so I thought he'd be ok! Doh!0 -
It's not your fault for that; it's his. You did nothing wrong but there are some unsavoury people on dating sites! I don't suppose it would help, but might be worth having a word with your network to see if they could block his number at their end (preferably without tipping him off to the fact that his texts aren't being received, in case he uses a different number to send them).0

You can block numbers on your phone if it's a Samsung. No other phones let you do this unfortunately. Don't know about other avenues of blocking."All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." (Edmund Burke)

Get a male friend to call him saying his is your new boyfriend and to leave you alone.0

For all those suggestions. I don't want to change my number though Vodafone did offer that. It would be hugely inconvenient. I don't have a Samsung either!
I have told him many times that I don't want anything to do with him and I have asked him what he hopes to gain from this, as I will never, ever want to meet him and wouldn't fall in love with someone who is such a sad loser that they send unwanted texts to someone!
I think the male friend thing is a great idea though. I would still like to tell the police but I'm worried they'll just laugh and think it's pathetic!0 -

To be honest, after I had asked nicely to be deleted time and again, I would end up going for the straightforward FCUK OFF approach. Or, yes, get a male friend to send the message and say back off. Can work wonders."All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." (Edmund Burke)
