Having got some of the Npower/Build Center loft insulation, what a disappointment. I have insulated lofts before but never have I seen such poor material to work with as this Npower Rockwool. For one thing, it is very fragile. It's OK if you are unwrapping the roll and letting it unroll across your loft, but if you have to manoeuvre it in any way, it very easily disintegrates. It also has a lot of lumps of fused glass in it and it is terribly irritable to any exposed skin. It is supposed to be for DIY but I would not recommend it.

At £1 a roll I'm going to be happy! Sure beats the £250+ price for othe insulation. Its not like I'll have the family round at Christmass to sit on it.
  • As of 10am this morning they still had plenty of 170mm and 100mm left ordered 10 rolls of 170mm and 5 of 100mm delivery January absolute bargain!:rotfl::T:money:
  • Gutted, not available in Northern Ireland. Even enquired about paying the additional postage and packaging to get it over here and was informed no chance ... strange, as their website has let me progress the order to where I enter my CC info.

Just to report back i've just taken delivery of my 9 rolls of 100mm insulation plus gloves, goggle and mask.

Delivery driver said he'd had 60 or so on van this morning. Was nothing on his lorry except insulation. And delivered twice that yesterday. He mentioned another 300 beyond that!

Excellent deal...2 hours to go so order quick anyone who hasn't!

My draughty old victorian house is in for a loft makeover with 18 packs of 100ml and 12 of 170. I rang my local branch and I spoke to a very helpful guy there who despite having a couple of computer glitches has confirmed my order for some time in January. Very pleased.
  • :A Brilliant
My son moved yesterday & we discovered no insulation in the loft, brrrrrr!
Have just got in before the 4pm deadline, guessing the amount needed. The Npower site costed and took my £38 so I hope it's OK.

A million thanks to you for the post:T

had my 10 rolls of 170mm delivered on 8-12-2009. have been in the loft all afternoon laying the stuff but now have a topped up loft to around 400mm

this stuff is real itchy even with mask goggles gloves overalls and taped cuffs and legs

used a wood hand saw to cut the rolls in half, then placed each half in a bin bag before i walked it through the house, saved on mess on the carpet
  • Having just been on holiday and meaning to buy insulation for when I got back (yesterday)...am i too late? :(
