Ok broker, study your CII and continue to call yourself a underwriter as you sell policies underwritten by others on your behalf. I assume like you do that you don't actually underwrite anything just collect the info for others.

What are you going on about now?

I am an underwriter for a Lloyd's motor insurer. I deal with specialist motor classes, including - funnily enough - public and private hire. Not that this is particularly relevant - what is relevant is that you are choosing to attack my credentials rather than address the points I raised.

Why are you continuing to peddle unsubstantiated nonsense whilst masquerading as an expert? This is just like your previous nonsense claims regarding driving other cars and related exclusions.

You don't have to tell the insurance company. You may even have driver other cars extension and wish to continue cover to use that..

Pastra you are talking rubbish (Not for the first time on MSE).

Have a read of the OP's post earlier

During work time I will be going from my main base to one of 6 sites, possible with a colleague or a pupil (this will be very rare though)

It would appear that we may have discovered why the OP's Insurance has gone up so much. Their broker must have rung through to the Insurer you work for and the customer services bod must have refered the matter for your "expert" opinion on business use and been advised they need Hire and Reward Use....

Good job, because I'm sure they would rather deal with someone who possesses a modicum of knowledge on the subject.

It's a good job for you that you don't as they would be continually correcting you on your mistakes
  • When is the policy due to be renewed. At that price it might be cheaper to hire cars when you need them or take taxis.

My favourite "Pastraism" was the discussion on specified items / underinsurance where he/she quoted that if there was not sufficient cover you can pay the difference in premium and be fully covered.

I have had to include a disclaimer in any advice I give on MSE to anyone asking about Under Insurance or Specified Item limits to the effect "Except if you are covered by the company Pastra works for"
  • Magpie - policy due to be renewed in August.

I want to know who offers those terms. I think I'll insure my flat for £1 rebuild costs then pay the rest of the premium if I have to claim.
