Ah sorry i didn't give enough detail there, after you click "proceed to checkout" when you've added it to the basket, you need to sign in, so if you haven't got an account with them then use the link there, it takes just a few minutes. Once you sign in, it will show you a breakdown of the cost and discounts.
It should show "gift promo" and then the value of the discount (i.e. half the original price) I have tried this with the "After dinner selection set" and it works, showing £4.75 discount from the original £9.50 price.

Remember to try the free delivery code though, it's listed on the first page of this thread! If you spend over £35 (before discounts) you can also use another code listed on the first page to get it even cheaper! :j

Many thanks. Ive got an account with them. Ive just done a trial run with the after dinner set and it shows up £4.75 but I thought that was just the "normal" 50% discount they are offering as they are only two tiny miniature bottles arent they.

I will be very unlikely to order online from m+s again, glitch or not. This is causing me far too much stress...do i get replacement presents in case they dont turn up? do i cancel them? do i..er..TRUST them to send my order? Aaaaagggghhhh!!!??!!!

Original price was £9.50 believe it or not! It's not just any Alcohol, its M&S Alcohol!!!;)

To be fair it is a computer glitch we are talking about

If I were you I would take it as they won't honour the order and then if they arrive it's a bonus!
