Blimey, I don't think I would get away with that.

Last time I sent hubby to take back a scarf. He had a copy of the email showing price paid, but they wouldn't accept it & he had to return the next day with the delivery note.

I had received 10% off my order..ordered several items... & when she refunded hubby she refunded price I had paid, but with the 10% off the whole order.

(That is I bought the scarf for £15, on a total order of approx £49. I therefore received a refund of £15 minus the £4.90 discount from the entire order, so even though in effect I paid £13.50 for the scarf, I was only refunded £10.10
Not a happy bunny but too much of a round trip to repeat the journey for a third time.)

I've had incorrect refunds on a number of occasions instore - but have emailed or contacted Customer Services and they have sorted it out - no problem.
  • I had two parcels arrived beautifully packaged but one has gone missing. Received a refund for the items (less all the discounts, fair enough) and was charged half for postage which I think is fair as I did get half my order :-)
It still worked out at a very good deal and customer service were very helpful and friendly.
Said the refund would take 3 to 5 days to be confirmed and it took one hour.
Thanks OP for the great offer!

I took a Wine and choccies set back to a store yesterday, and was given the full price of £20, in a credit note...I only paid around £2 for it........so it greatly reduces the price of my other stuff.

Sorry, I thanked you but didn't mean too!

What I meant to do was to quote you to say that that's blatantly dishonest!!

M&S have been brilliant in honouring these orders, that's one slap in the face too far imho!!

Did u take ur invoice with u?? Or did u have to give ur details??

I did take it and showed it, but only because it didnt have a price on....I didnt have to give any details, but told them the invoice belonged to the person who ordered the gift not my daughter(the recipient)..

...........but does of course greatly increase the risk of a theft charge later on if M&S link the two transactions.

Not really...I made it clear it was a gift, i didnt ask for £20...they just gave me it, and no details were taken or requested, and in law, they have no reason to require this, so in law, i have no responsibility to give a correct one...

I think its brilliantly undishonest.....i didnt ask for £20, they just gave me it...I'm waiting for my next order to arrive, there bound to be something i dont want...

As it was part of a £300 (discount reduced) multi item order, Ive no idea what i paid for individual bits..and theres no way they could associate it with the glitch.

If you said it was a gift, even though you bought it, that adds fraud to the list of offences. As for keeping the £20, knowing that you'd paid £2 or so, you'll find that it's theft under the Theft Act 1968.

You've actually stolen £18. If you're proud of that, fine. Just as I hope shoplifters get caught, because they increase the prices for everyone else, I hope they can track the transaction back to you.

I'll remember this when i take my other gifts back after new year, and when they offer me £18, I'll tell them I only paid 90p for them....thanks.

Does this mean buying cds for £1 each on market and getting £17 for them in big stores isnt right either, and returning stuff, not really knowing its been bought cheaper is wrong...I'll have to stop "my friend" doing this.

Will he have to pay the £20k back do you think...Altho no details were ever taken....................................he says.

I hope shoplifters get caught as well, as yes, it increases prices
